Faris says the shooting was unfortunate, but appeared to be appropriate because Knox felt an imminent threat to his life.Well, at least the officer made it home to his family that night.
And that is all that truly matters.

He is expected to recover - I sure hope so.
Are registration tags worth a life? There is no real purpose to registration tags...oh yeah, except revenue, and revenue trumps everything.
What ever the settlement, he should get free vehicle registration for life, and the officer that shot him should put the tags on his plates every year.

That is the catch-all justification for cops’ use deadly force. “The officer felt threatened.” At least the cop went home safely.

What the heck is going in this country? Just what kind of people are being hired to be policemen? I have never heard of so many shootings by police.

during a traffic stop because he thought the man was grabbing a rifle from the bed of his pickup truck. How could the LEO think it's a rifle, if he never ever saw a rifle?

Maybe it is time for a new FR ping list: “Jack-Booted thugs”.
It seems to be a growing problem in the states.

Wow, what an incredibly arrogant attitude by the department. I'm deeply shocked.
What's interesting to me is that this is the kind of knee-jerk reaction that liberals predicted concealed carry proponents would unleash, when those laws gained in popularity, yet it is perfectly appropriate when done by law enforcement. Well, unfortunate, but appropriate.

I take it that no newspaper delivery chicks were available to shoot? Anyone care to guess if this department uses video shoot or don’t shoot training? Seems like that program leads to a number of overly quick shooting reactions. I could see drawing the weapon, but without actually being targeted, I see no justification for firing. You or I do this, we go to jail.

So when I reach in my pocket for my license and in the glove box for the registration if the LEO feels threatened I get shot?
The next time I get pulled over the license and registration will be in my hand and my hands will be out the window.

I’m staring to suspect there is some process, or a collection of processes used on trainees that serves to DESENSITIZE these new officers to the power of empathy, sympathy, analytical skills, presumption of innocence, respect for the physically or mentally disabled. There is some way the officers are trained to see EVERY CIVILIAN AND DOMESTICATED PET AS A DIRE THREAT TO THE OFFICER’S LIFE. This is the way you act when you are flailing, and afraid for your life. Scattershot. They are teaching our newest officers to be deeply replused, disengaged from, disgusted with, contemptuous of everyday Americans. This is being drummed into them. Maybe a certain ERIC SNOWDEN could offer some explanation. The truth will come out. This overly WAR LIKE behavior is now pandemic in this country.
