Obamacare’s partially read fiats, already under fire for forcing restaurants and vending machine operators to affix calorie labels to offerings, also mandate informing the public about calories burned during certain activities, according to the latest fatwa, issued today, by the Department of Health and Human Services.
The fatwa requires “Any business, institution, municipality, or other entity to place signage in no less than 14 languages, which must include Spanish, Urdu, and any three varieties of Pidgin English, within two vertical feet and five linear feet of escalators, elevators, and moving walkways, inter alia, informing the public on how many calories ambulating or climbing a stairwell in place of utilizing available powered transportation will consume.”

My personal favorite signs are the braille signs at the drive through at my bank. They can only be reached from the drivers seat so I’m trying to imagine a blind person driving up and groping around for the instructions in braille. There are also brail signs at my gym at about 4 1/2 feet right in the middle of the wall which say “no male over the age of three” as you go into the women’s dressing room. So I’m trying to imagine a blind mother (since a four year old male couldn’t reach that high) moving her hands all over this 6X6 foot wall area to make sure she had read the braille. She then has to say, sorry sweetie but you have to go into the men’s locker room. And of course, since she’s blind, why wouldn’t she be able to take her son into the men’s locker room as long as she wasn’t changing?
Will they have to hire more bureaucrats and create a Department of Signs and Notices, or can they just go with this one…
