does it beat man made traditions that allows any number of additions to the gospel?
You KNOW your snakes!!
Ask Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, etc.....
“It is a man made theology that allows any number of perversions of the gospel”
Wow. That strikes me as a mammoth truth claim you’re making pardner.
What do you have to prove your claim is true?
I suggest you start with a correct understanding of what sola scriptura means, instead of the caricature FRomans seem to have.
To help you support your truth claim with facts, evidence, logical argument, I will provide a link to save you work.
You might start here: http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/djw/lutherantheology.kiefersolascriptura.html
Once you actually have clarity, I imagine it will be relatively easy for you to systematically prove your claim that “It is a man made theology that allows any number of perversions of the gospel.”
I can’t wait to see your marshaling of proof.
It occurs to me you may require additional resources in order to save you time.
Here is a FR thread on this very thing. Perhaps by reading a defense of Sola Scriptura, you will be able to see what arguments advocates typically put forward. They you can reverse engineer them in order to deliver your definitive proof.

Again, I personally can’t wait.
If you would be so kind, in order that we both are on the same page, please provide a once sentence definition of what you mean, when you refer to Sola Scriptura. I think it will save time not having to correct straw man arguments, etc. We’ll both be on the same page.
Thanks. I admire you for backing up your truth claim with real facts, evidence and logical arguments. Not many are willing or capable. They just have unsupported opinions.
Oh, I forgot this, which will really help you focus your arguments and evidence:
Your truth claim has two parts. I assume you will be able to support both.
Here is what you claimed:
(1) It is a man made theology
(2) that allows any number of perversions of the gospel. The end result allows people to see snake handling, homosexual marriage, adult only baptism, etc....
To support the first part of your truth claim, you will be required to demonstrate it is a man-made theology.
To support the second part of your truth claim, you will be required to prove it is Sola Scriptura that “allows any number of perversions of the gospel. The end result allows people to see snake handling, homosexual marriage, adult only baptism, etc...”
By the way, for extra credit, if you have time or just concede you cannot prove the first two points, I would like to have your opinion on how (as one of your examples) “adults only baptism perverts the Gospel.” That would be at least be entertaining. I realize this wasn’t a truth claim you were making, but it was your opinion. I’d love to hear how you arrive at that opinion.
In the meantime, if/as you begin to bring proof of your two truth claims, I believe it will be a real service to all of us on FR who claim the Name of Christ, to read them.

Here is a good definition of what is meant by Sola Scriptura.
First of all, it is not a claim that the Bible contains all knowledge. The Bible is not exhaustive in every detail. John 21:25 speaks to the fact that there are many things that Jesus said and did that are not recorded in John, or in fact in any book in the world because the whole books of the world could not contain it. But the Bible does not have to be exhaustive to function as the sole rule of faith for the Church. We do not need to know the color of Thomas eyes. We do not need to know the menu of each meal of the Apostolic band for the Scriptures to function as the sole rule of faith for the Church.
Secondly, it is not a denial of the Churchs authority to teach Gods truth. I Timothy 3:15 describes the Church as the pillar and foundation of the truth. The truth is in Jesus Christ and in His Word. The Church teaches truth and calls men to Christ and, in so doing, functions as the pillar and foundation thereof. The Church does not add revelation or rule over Scripture. The Church being the bride of Christ, listens to the Word of Christ, which is found in God-breathed Scripture.
Thirdly, it is not a denial that Gods Word has been spoken. Apostolic preaching was authoritative in and of itself. Yet, the Apostles proved their message from Scripture, as we see in Acts 17:2, and 18:28, and John commended those in Ephesus for testing those who claimed to be Apostles, Revelation 2:2. The Apostles were not afraid to demonstrate the consistency between their teaching and the Old Testament.
And, finally, sola scriptura is not a denial of the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding and enlightening the Church.
What then is sola scriptura?
The doctrine of sola scriptura, simply stated, is that the Scriptures and the Scriptures alone are sufficient to function as the regula fide, the rule of faith for the Church. All that one must believe to be a Christian is found in Scripture and in no other source. That which is not found in Scripture is not binding upon the Christian conscience. To be more specific, I provide the following definition:
The Bible claims to be the sole and sufficient rule of faith for the Christian Church. The Scriptures are not in need of any supplement. Their authority comes from their nature as God-breathed revelation. Their authority is not dependent upon man, Church or council. The Scriptures are self-consistent, self-interpreting, and self-authenticating. The Christian Church looks at the Scriptures as the only and sufficient rule of faith and the Church is always subject to the Word, and is constantly reformed thereby.
It is the third one down against Micha anthony
Alone, alone, alone. The Bible alone.
Where is that in the Bible?
"If he will not listen to the church, treat him as a pagan or tax collector." --Jesus
The verse is taken out of context. It is in dealing with personal issues between believers, not giving ultimate authority to an ecclesiastical organization.
Scripture is authoritative based on the fact that it is Holy Spirit inspired, God breathed revelation from God to man.
God didn’t leave us hanging in what He wants us to know about Himself.
In case anyone is curious about what the snake community thinks of all this, it turns out that Coots habitually killed many snakes through abuse and neglect.
Their general feelings are “score one for the snakes”.
And....?
Look!!!
Over THERE!
YOU protestANTS are supposed to go on defense.
He’s having a swell time!
Bob Jones of the not Bob Jones University #1, this Jamie Coots of the Lady of the Snakes #2, who’ll be the #3 Fundie Saint to go meet Harold Camping and Paul Crouch?
