The doctrine of sola scriptura, simply stated, is that the Scriptures and the Scriptures alone are sufficient to function as the regula fide, the “rule of faith” for the Church.

The verse is taken out of context. It is in dealing with personal issues between believers, not giving ultimate authority to an ecclesiastical organization.

Scripture is authoritative based on the fact that it is Holy Spirit inspired, God breathed revelation from God to man.

God didn’t leave us hanging in what He wants us to know about Himself.
