Amongst the thousands of languages spoken across the world, here are just eighty. How many can you distinguish between?

Ebonics is the only one that comes to mind........
Considering I’m half deaf and have difficulty with English, not too many.
550
Very cool! I’ve played several rounds, but 300 is the best I have done so far.
400
That was fun...400...and I’ve never heard Latvian [sp?]
500 to 600 consistently, but there are several I’ve never heard of. I guess two years of Spanish 1 pays off.
I’ll clear my cache and try again.
I know I could do better.
BTW, I don’t speak any other language.
Wow, fun but tough! I played about 7 rounds and never got above 400. Some of these languages I’ve never heard of... are they actual “languages” or just dialects... or is that just semantics?
Yeah, sometimes it was simply process of elimination. E.g., it’s definitely not Italian, and it’s a little too “off” to be Portugese... okay, it must be Latvian!”
250 I mistook Icelandic for who can remember what language..
500 but second guessed myself on one, so I could have had 1 more correct.
I like to think I have a good ear for languages and I’ve been around enough internationals (plus time abroad), that I’ve heard a lot of different languages. I took German, Spanish, Old English, and Chinese as a student, and used Rosetta Stone to learn Danish a few years ago. My friends who were native and near-native Danish speakers said I did pretty well for learning from the computer. And as luck would have it, I have a friend who spent 6 months in Iceland and I spent a little time looking at the language, so that was easy to pick out.
I always have a hard time with Portuguese. I don’t know why.
I'll never forget the day some 5 or more years ago, several Japanese men came into the store needing help but unable to speak any english at all. With patience and sign language they - me - we mixed a few gallons of paint and they left happy, never saw them again.
We get a lot of people from all over the world who I guess have bought the cheap real estate we have in Detroit. Still amazes me that Japanese group. Can't imagine going so far from home without someone as a guide who can speak the language. Of course in America, they must feel safe in doing so here.
Round two (didn’t clear my cache)
450
I think the faster I answer the better I do.
550 — lots of fun.
I scored 550. My family is Macedonian, so I was able to recognize most of the Slavic languages. And I recognized Gujarati, because my sister-in-law’s family is Indian. (That woman on the recording sounded JUST like her mother. LOL!)
Are the women in Iceland really good looking?
I know quite a few languages but I only got 300. That was fun. Gonna play again.
At least we now have a PM who can be understood in both English and French!
