Being gay could be in the DNA.
Scientists have found two stretches of DNA linked to homosexuality in men.
The confirmation of the existence of a ‘gay gene’ or genes will strengthen arguments that homosexuality is a matter of biology, rather than choice.
However, it also raises the prospect of a genetic test that could be used by insurance companies to discriminate against clients or by pregnant women to abort gay babies.
In the study, Chicago University researchers analysed the DNA of more than 400 pairs of gay brothers, recruited at Gay Pride festivals at marches over several years.
This revealed flagged up two pieces of DNA that seem to be linked to homosexuality.
It is not known which of the many genes they contain are key or how they affect the development of sexual orientation.
However, the result, revealed at the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s prestigious annual conference, backs up a contentious 1993 study.
That research, the first to find evidence of a ‘gay gene’, created a storm of controversy, which was further fuelled when other scientists failed to find a genetic link.
Dr Michael Bailey from Northwestern University in Illinois, who contributed to the latest study, said it is the biggest of its kind.
He added: ‘Sexual orientation has nothing to do with choice. Our findings suggest there may be genes at play – we found evidence for two sets that affect whether a man is gay or straight.
‘Although this could one day lead to a pre-natal test for male sexual orientation, it would not be very accurate, as there are other factors that can influence the outcome.’
Despite this, he would not would not object to a prenatal test being developed.

True, but we should be careful not to oversimplify the idea of nurture being the prime factor when it comes to determining sexual orientation. It is likely to be a specific event or combination of events that causes the shift, rather than just a general environment growing up. Since even in the same household no two children’s experiences during childhood are the same, this would seem very plausible and the trigger could be something very innocuous or benign.
There can be only one answer, if you accept that homosexuality is genetic, and that's that the homosexuality gene is a genetic defect.

i have a simple logical question. if male queers were born to be that way, then why do they produce sperm and why are lesbians born with the means to reproduce ?... that is something for which they obviously have no need.

But they just have to think about our creator, which most don’t. How were we created?
As in alcoholism, either its learned and devoloped or it is genetic. It’s likely both depending on the person. In either case, the behavior is the issue. Stop it. It’s destructive

Think of the ameliorating effects of Christianity on such a character. The same would apply to homosexuality.

Very true. The environment sets the predisposition, then a triggering event sets the pattern.
In one situation, I was working with a very strong willed lesbian activist. She had a very dominant controlling religious mother who ran her life in all aspects. She went away to college and had a lesbian experience. When she told her mother, her mother’s response was... then “If you are gay, you are no daughter of mine!”
She instantly achieved the separation from her mother and the freedom she had been seeking since she was 12 yrs old. The gay community is a very strong self validating community, much the way gangs are for teenagers. It gave her a new identity and peer pressure group.
This young woman did not have a predisposition to being gay, thus it created a lot of inner turmoil. She became an angry activist as if she could convince others that her lifestyle was ok, it would validate her and she could accept herself.
When she realized her pattern, it set her free.
It could be recessive.
Also, consider a primitive pre-patriarchal society. The male offspring would "leave his father and his mother", and go find a wife and live with her clan. His abilities would be lost to his blood relatives. A homosexual offspring, on the other hand, might be more willing to stay around and help raise his nieces and nephews, thus indirectly forwarding his genetic line.
It would not be ironic,it would be another affirmation that the bible is the only consistent moral authority.

What if some people are born with a propensity to kill? Shall we celebrate the murderer?
What if this propensity could be removed?
What if the answer isn’t in science or medicine?
A final note. Do not misunderstand what is at stake here. This is not merely a culture war. This is not even about normalizing homosexuality even. This is about the age old, epic battle between the forces of good and evil. And this is the latest skirmish in which evil is determined to make the God of Heaven and Earth look foolish. It’s an attempt to mock God’s order and to tear it down.
