Poverty and unemployment are at near-record levels, the economy is stalled, and a record 47 million Americans are on food stamps, yet aides for first lady Michelle Obamas tweeted out a picture of her two dogs apparently dining at a table laid with crystal and china.
Bone appétit!, the aides added to the insensitive tweet, using the language of Frances queen Marie Antoinette, who was executed by radicals in 1793.
One dog appears to be wearing a jeweled necklace. The other is wearing a red ribbon.
Obamas media courtiers applauded the ostentatious display of canine luxury. Bo And Sunny Obama Get Decked Out For The State Dinner And Its Pretty Adorable, says the headline on an article at the Huffington Post.
In 1980, Ronald Reagans wife, Nancy, was relentlessly criticized in the press after she ordered a new set of china for the White House during the painful recession created under Democratic President Jimmy Carter.
The china was bought with donated funds, yet it prompted so much media controversy that it was not used until February 1982. Nancy Reagans new china set survived its White House debut intact. Nary a $48 cup was broken, declared a snarky AP article.
The palace dogs tweet was quickly praised by Obamas followers.
So cute! Aww! said a tweet from Erica.
OMG SO CUTE, said Jessica.
Others reactions were jaundiced. #Boneghazi, said a tweet from SeaWorldSammy. Dont laugh. That will be the @FoxNews headliner tomorrow, he added.
where’s Dog #3?
"Oh yeah... good dog!"
I’m less upset about the dogs dining on the historic china than I am about the Obamas doing so.
Some days you wonder if we’d be better off with Bo sitting at the Oval Office desk and Barry curled up under it, licking himself.
“”WHO ON EARTH would plan an outdoor TENT dinner in February in DC””
My first thought! Isn’t this storm suppose to hit DC and surrounding areas pretty hard??
And to think that the proglodytes whine about “one percenters”. Pfah. At least the “one percenters” are spending their own damned money!
exactly
“”petite mixed radishes, merlot lettuce and baby carrots inspired by the first ladys kitchen garden.””
I remember when the first lady was pictured canning or freezing those vegetables for salads. AH - I must have dreamed it.
Food represented from EIGHT states. I’m so impressed. They are doing their best to live like the rest of us..
Those of us in the path of the ice storm tonight have been concentrating on having enough food on hand from our local super market. I’m so glad the first family knows how to sacrifice.
I agree on both counts.
Same here, FRiend.
The one on the left appears to be bi-racial, there is some white in him.
Gee, a far cry from the Prole Rations that Michelle tells the peasants to eat.
It's all black except when blaming whitey.

Agree my daughter just finished reading this for her freshman English class (catholic school) also had to write an essay proving Orwell’s use of satire comparing the book to communist Russia. Good Stuff.
In 1980, Ronald Reagans wife, Nancy, was relentlessly criticized in the press after she ordered a new set of china for the White House during the painful recession created under Democratic President Jimmy Carter.<<<<
The press neglected to report the new set of china was paid for by private donations. No gov monies were used.
The Reagans left the china in the White House, unlike the Clintons who hauled (stole) away two large truckloads of china, silver, valuable antiques, paintings, etc. belonging to the American people.
If the morons who helped put these idiots where they are DO NOT now understand who these two are after they have spent 5 years sticking it to them and in their faces, these Kool-Aid drinking morons deserve all the misery now coming down on their ill-educated and ignorant heads.
Heh.
Here's another poem about dogs. I thought former White House dog Barney would have made a good leader ...
.
movin on up! to the top!
moving on up! to deeelux apartment in the skyyyyy,
