OK there is a question being asked right now on Fox News Channel, about jobs.
Specifically the question was "Where have all the jobs gone".
Duh. CHINA.
I prefer not to buy from a union shop. Furthermore, I like that union strength and numbers are quickly eroding by their own destructive ideology.
When I was a young man America believed in three separate but equal branches of government.
You and the gov can scream all they want about bringing jobs back to the US, if the CEO in the boardroom of corporate America says FXXKING NO WAY, I want my bonus to increase it aint coming back. By the way Corporate America’s answer to jobs is more illegal immigrants and H-1B guest workers. Guess who really runs the country.
I just want to remember please one thing:
Buying Chinese products, are not a good alternative, if you are not buying American products because they are made in a union shop.
After all, China is a nation of one billion, all of whom are in a massive union: The People’s Republic.
Just saying. If you’re going to buy from China, then you shouldn’t avoid buying American.
Not even union American.
I am not advocating for American union production, please don’t get me wrong.
But I would even buy union-made American, just as quick as I would buy Chinese.

It’s always the same with you. You are like a broken record! First, Unions support Dems and influence our elections much more than the Chinese.
Second, those are not American jobs, Chinese jobs, union jobs or anyone else’s jobs. They belong to the company. The company owns them. When people stop supporting tax and regulation politicians and proposing ignorant ideas like tariffs, then maybe the corporations will consider re-industrializing America.
I sort of agree with you. Except the jobs are being done by family members. We are all pitching in to keep the business alive. We work for less, and do more. Instead of being retired, we are now working when we should be enjoying life.
Yeah. He should have said “Re-elect me and you’ll have even more free time!’’ Not that he had to. The slackers put him back in anyway. Seriously, this son of a b!tch has so screwed up the work ethic in people it’ll be a miracle if any recovery takes place. Why work? Get free stuff from the producing class. You’re ‘’entitled’’ to it. And when the producing class gets tired off carrying the weight, then what?
Just remember BigBob, a 300 dollar Apple Smartphone, the Chinese corporation got $ .75 for making it. The $ 299.25 was pocketed by Apple Corporation. The American workers who lost their jobs to Apple overseas manufacturing was dumped onto the taxpayers as unemployment benefits, food stamps and Obamacare. If corporate America intends to give up American jobs for big profits, why is the American consumer so program to spend $ 300 for an Apple smart phone. If corporate America intends to ship jobs overseas and never bring them back, then cut out the middle guy, buy Chinese smart phones for $ 90. At least I save 200 bucks!!!
I think America really needs to look out for our own country first.
China looks out for their people.
American companies which make things in China don’t even make things themselves. Chinese companies do.
Americans cannot even own Chinese companies, except as non-resident aliens, and only as minority owners.
America is being taken for a ride.
We need to stand up, and stop selling out to foreign countries. Bring back American jobs.
Now.
Sounds like a viable business plan. Why don’t you try it?

Sure they do... They're just to hold government offices. Don't ask what they're doing with the old big buildings that USED TO hold those government offices...

Just because they export a lot doesn’t mean there’s jobs there. Automation combined with lack of regulation makes China a manufacturing dynamo. But even if we retook the lead it wouldn’t bring jobs, we’d just be making more stuff with machines. There’s a reason both the productivity rate AND unemployment rate are up, people are becoming unnecessary to most work.
Even that is in a bad position, have you seen the IBM commercial about machines that figure out they’re going to break before they break, and then “report” in to where they get fixed by other machines.
As the machines get smarter even the programming of them is at risk, there will have to be someone to program the AI but if they can learn the job from the manual we’re talking a lot less programmers.
It’s an interesting world, tech has always been a force multiplier but the level of multiplication is getting such that I’m really not sure where the people fit anymore.

Man, you just never quit. Did you even read my post. Does reason or anything else sink into your brain? It’s like you are a Zombie repeating the same mantra over and over no matter what is said or goes on around you. Try addressing people’s posts, you know, what they actually typed, instead of empty slogans.
The jobs belong to the corporations, not you, America, or anyone else. Who is this “we” who should be taking care of “us” first? Are you proposing that companies be FORCED to employ people here? What is your solution? We never read that from you, just the same talking point BS with no solutions from you. By the way, if you respond with “just bring the jobs back” I want to see a proposal about who is going to pay for the onerous taxes and regulations companies would face to do so.
Whenever I see a thread about jobs, I know that you will be there spouting the same mind-numbing mantra with no solutions. Don’t think I am picking on you, there are several on this site who do the same.
Well, we DO build spectacular bridges here in the SF Bay Area made in, er, China.
You demonstrate why I am increasingly for American trade tariffs.
China and most other countries are very consistent, and support trade tariffs.
America needs to look out for our own.
Bigtime. If “American” companies don’t stay in America, then we should build up other companies right here, who will.
You move, you lose.
Economics would tell you it has very little to do with trade barriers. It would also tell you that putting up trade barriers would not solve the problem.
Government is, however, the problem:
