If all you know about Vladimir Putin is what you learned from Bob Costas during NBCs Olympic coverage Thursday night, you might be excused for thinking the Russian autocrat is a great peacemaker on the world stage.
Costas ran a video montage to bring viewers up to speed on the Russian president as the Olympic Winter Games began in Sochi, Russia. For a minute, NBC looked an awful lot like a Russian propaganda network at least in how it portrayed Putin as a leader in the international arena.
Just in the past year, Putin brokered a deal to allow Syria to avoid a U.S. military strike by giving up its chemical weapons, Costas intoned over pictures of Putin wheeling and dealing on the world stage. And helped bring Iran to the negotiating table over its nuclear intentions.

He packed his Obama kneepads for the trip.
Putin has a whole crew of catamites on this forum.
waiting for the Putin cheerleaders to show up......
I notice that too. Putin’s latest talk about Russia being a bastion of Christianity is his attempt to appeal to non-urban Russians. He is a master manipulator and will say anything to stay in power.
You just described 99.9% of all politicians across the globe.
Why can’t Costas just do sports events?
Costas is so utterly arrogant that he feels compelled to enlighten the world with his personal political views. Frankly, I’m sick of it and can’t stand to watch him.
Bob Costas on gun control
Bob Costas’ on Russia’s view on the practice of homosexuality
Bob Costas’ view on Putnin
Is there anything Bob Costas doesn’t know? IMO, Costas is just another nasty iteration of Keith Olbermann.
Cast all the aspersions you can garner but truth of the matter is Putin has out performed dear leader in just about every category. Says more about current POTUS than commie thug but there it is for all to see. And the Kenyan was spotted the most powerful nation since the dawn of time!!!
"You're excited...Feel these nipples!"
Useful Idiot.
Newsbusters will have to update their list with this one.
Stand up Bob, oh,you are!
No surprise.
Recall how the NBC crew lauded China for producing the greatest Olympics since Olympics have been being produced.
What do China and Russia have in commonality?
I wish we had a President who supported traditional religious values, nationalism, and aggressively recognized the threat from Muslim terrorism (not all Muslims are terrorists). I wish we had a president who weren't recreationly causing chaos and terrorist havens in the mideast, and now Syria and Ukraine. Wouldn't it be nice if our president could play a decent game of chess instead of whine about how hard his daughter's HS math is?
Put them to my deserted island test. If you were stuck on a deserted island and had to choose one of them for survival...who would it be: Putin or Obama?
Is that enough cheerleading for you? <^..^>
“If you were stuck on a deserted island and had to choose one of them for survival...who would it be: Putin or Obama?”
Obama....Putin would kill you in your sleep the 1st night.
This fantasy would not involve sleeping the first night <^..^>
Costas is a liberal A-hole. Every time his face appears on the MLB network shows, my channel changes till he is gone. Cannot stand the leftist mouth piece.
Has he?
In what ways exactly?
The two are remarkably similar: lots of blather and showmanship, complete ineffectiveness, impinging on citizens' rights, etc.
Two insecure loudmouth morons.
Just off the top of my head do you recall the Syrian debacle, the Libyan debacle the Russians are on the ascent and where are we heading!!!!!
Because the dictator they are propping up in Syria is still clinging to power?
Wow, what an achievement.
Maybe because the ruble has lost almost 25% of its value in the past year?
Great success.
Or that its GDP growth is 1.2%, well below the US?
Sounds great.
Or that the average Russian, despite the enormous commodity boom that is now collapsing, still only makes a quarter what the average American does?
Maybe that there have been 35 Russians killed in terrorist bombings on Russian soil in the last three months, as opposed to the US with 3 in the past ten years?
Achievements like those?
Where exactly is Russia heading?
One last question: would you rather stay in a hotel room in Sochi or in Salt Lake City?
