The Heart of California Can Come Back If It Doesn't Obsess on Who's to Blame
(Excerpt) Read more at zocalopublicsquare.org ...
i lived in the Central Valley from 1999-2012... i loved it... wish i were still there... pretty conservative, especially compared to San Jose'--where i was born, raised and lived until 1999... (as liberal as it is, i still have a heart for San Jose')...
I wouldn’t enter that sewer of a state to take a dump.
The Gold Country’s political climate isn’t bad, relatively speaking. A good number of my school friends have over the years moved there from the bay area, and so far the area hasn’t attracted the leftwing wacko birds in any great numbers.
Just kidding.I'm not *that* stupid.
Since California’s taxes are astronomical, the water distribution is dependent on the US government, and the state government is full of crazies makes any move to California by seniors not desirable. PLUS the amount of taxes you pay just to drive your car (renewal and gas taxes are outlandish). There is NO up side to moving to California. Ask all of those who are moving out
And heck yeah. There’s plenty of water..........what? There’s not? Oh, never mind that point. How about; The taxes and cost of living in the CV of CA is much much lower than.......what? It’s not? Oh, never mind that point. How about; Housing prices are significantly lower than......what? They’re not. Never mind. Sadly, there are stunning places all over Cali but I couldn’t live there.
But the state’s politics are dominated by SF and LA
It’s great that we still live in a country where you can choose to live where you want.
And the crushing taxes to be paid. One of the main attractions of Florida, besides nice weather in the winter and the ubiquitous avian known as the "early bird", is the fact that property taxes are reasonable, as is sales tax, and personal income tax is 0.
California looked pretty good when we got off the MSTS in Oakland.
>> “and so far the area hasnt attracted the leftwing wacko birds in any great numbers.” <<
.
I want to assure you that the Tuolumne County board of supervisors is all leftie wackos. So is the “Air Rescources Board.”
You have to appreciate how SJ used to be >40 years ago to still love it today.
Fl = no taxes
Ca = all taxes
I am in the Pacific Northwest, born here but grew up in S. CA.
Last night it was in the teens and windy - so cold. Supposed to snow here today and this weekend, the worst of the worst, freezing rain. I do love it here when the weather is nice - hard to find a more beautiful place that is easy to live in. But really missing southern California. We’ve been looking in Carlsbad which is a relatively conservative enclave, Issa is the Rep there. And, CA is still one of the world’s largest economies.
This isn’t an easy decision - great weather, high taxes v. not much sun but lower cost.
Yeah, but on the other hand I’m looking forward to the area reverting back to the Old West when the social services benefits run out. Yahoo.
In many places such as Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Arizona, taxes are rising, property rights are being abused, and traditional social structures are collapsing as liberals with nothing to do in their retirement years are being elected to everything from school boards and planning commissions to county supervision.
Meanwhile, conservatives and independents hoping to live and let live as they try to enjoy life in retirement or [for the younger folks] raise a family are wondering what the hell hit them.
I live in Bakersfield in the Central valley. Two words describe it both proceeded by the words Too many.
Too many: Taxes
Too many: Mexicans
For now. Of course, with the Leftist push for a one-state country, one place will eventually not be that different from another.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
So the CA commies can confiscate whatever's left of your estate when you kick it? Right.
