I don’t see why there is all this anger over the ad. Getting ticked off over a stupid commercial makes our side look like idiots. I thought the ad was kind of cool.
I think a lot of the talk of “outrage” is overblown. I just shrug my shoulders at the advert. Frankly, there are definitely much bigger fish to fry.
Haven’t seen it, don’t watch much tv though...
First question.
Who is ‘we’ ?
It does not bother me a bit.
Yes, the commercial was disturbing - and the fact you are asking the question means you just don’t “get it”.
It didn’t bother me a bit; just a soundbite of twenty-first century America. My wife and I are more concerned about being stuck inside for another day, due to the ice storm we got on Tuesday night, and whether or not I can get a job in 2014.
No. We’re being played. And not just this cheezy stuff. It’s projection from the left trying to type-cast conservatives and TEA Party movement people as intolerant, ignorant bigots.
Have you seen the Coke Ad?
First they are singing America the Beautiful in languages besides our English.
Worse yet, the ad features a gay couple holding hands and they even have a child.
This was broadcast to 120 million viewers without any warning about its content.
The thing that bothered me about it was that it reminded me of this horror from my youth:

Ughhhhhh....
A local yahoo in Richmond keeps whining about the new ad. And Savage. They’re just phonies trying to stir up little old ladies.
A number of other talk radio people have expressed disapproval.
I follow a lot of other conservatives on Twitter, and it seemed that a few were upset and planning to boycott Coke, but many more thought the controversy was stupid, overblown social media drama.
I think a lot part of it might have been a matter of timing—people are really touchy about anything that even hints at immigration issues right now, and with good reason.
Since I don’t have TV and did not see the ad I don’t have an opinion, though I tend to think that this commercial isn’t one thats important to take a stand on. So I guess I have an opinion after all. Watch people launch on me.
Out of curiosity - and for some low-rent amusement - I went to the article on Breitbart.com. I don’t have a problem with the ad but understand the argument that “diversity is our strength” is an oxymoron and that it would have been infinitely better IMO if the ad had shown all those non-white faces singing America The Beautiful in English.
One of the more common tropes of the left is that, if you comment on a topic (any topic), no matter how innocent or casual you post, it is fair for them to say you are obsessing or outraged. And so I went, and so I offered up a post or two. The ASSumptions that some of them posted in response were knee-slappers.
The goofiest thing was the pseudo-revelation that the author of the song was a lesbian. How do we know this? because they told us. How do they know this? Because “someone” told them. Over and over I asked them to offer up some sort (any sort) of evidence that she was homosexual. Mostly what I got in return was accusations of “homophobia”.
So the homos said we were haters because the author was queer. The one-worlders said we were haters because we didn’t want immigrants. The indians said we were haters because they got here first. And all of them said we were haters because George Bush.
They create a strawman and then they knock it down.
Pathetic.
Some say that the ad was a stealth appeal for immigration amnesty by its Muslim chief executive officer [ raised in Iran and Indonesia ? ]
I’m not mad about it.
It did not make me want to drink any more coke, but I’m not mad.
It’s just like we supposed to be outraged over a biracial Cheerios ad. It’s so that people won’t want to be associated with us ‘racist’ conservatives.
From the Super Bowl Coke Ad.
Are they trying to sell Coke or are they trying to infect American children with images that sell Gay Marriage?
As long as it doesn’t violate the Constitution. I’d have a world of problems if Obammy and Bigfoot were singing it... but not some International company that sells it’s product to millions of people across the globe.
Mad. No.
Is it an ad that I would want to watch? No.
Is it a wise ad for Coke to make? Not really, it alienates part of their consumer base. It’s their prerogative as a private business to do what they want with the confines of the law.
English is our native language. The feel good multiKulti bs is aggravating. Like this advertizing. Just more multiKulti brainwashing .....that it is good
