Stephen Hawking has shocked physicists by admitting there are no black holes.
In a paper published online, Professor Hawking instead argues there are grey holes.
The absence of event horizons means that there are no black holesin the sense of regimes from which light can't escape to infinity, he says in the paper, called Information Preservation and Weather Forecasting For Black Holes.
He says that the idea of an event horizon, from which light cannot escape, is flawed.
He suggests that instead light rays attempting to rush away from the black holes core will be held as though stuck on a treadmill and that they can slowly shrink by spewing out radiation.

If there’s one thing one can count on in physics is that whatever they proclaim as fact will eventually be replaced with another fact. The other truth is I personally won’t understand either!!
yes photons could be stuck in orbit
If gravity can affect photons so that light cannot excape a black hole then it is NOT an either/or scenario.
Light can be seen to bend around galaxies by ‘graviational lensing’ and there is no reason to thing a photon’s path could not be ‘bent’ enough to keep going around forever.
Yet again, we are presented with an example of why scientific theories are never to be taken too seriously even though the scientists themselves invariably claim that they have finally solved the riddle of [fill in the blank].
Some scientific theories prove to be so weak that they only "explain" observations that have already been made.
Some theories, however, are of such a nature that they suggest new observations to make and predict what those observations will be.
An example is the theory of General Relativity. Without having observed it, Einstein predicted the bending of light in a gravitational field. About fifteen years after the theory was presented, the opportunity to make observations that would confirm that prediction arose and the prediction was verified (though there is controversy about the accuracy of those observations.)
New scientific theories are constrained by having to explain all past observations.
The original theory of black holes was to explain what would happen if more and more matter was allowed to collect into one location, creating a gravitational field that we already know would prevent the escape of light.
Subsequent observations showed that some energy was being emitted despite the prohibitive level of the gravitational field.
Hawking, I believe, is given the credit for explaining how quantum theory WOULD allow reactions to occur at or near the "even horizon" such that mass/energy trapped in the black hole could escape and be detected. This mechanism demonstrates that "black holes" are not completely "black". They can give up mass/energy and become smaller with time.
One should be careful not to confuse global-warming studies with "science".
I shoulda became a scientist. I can make up $hit for lots of money just as good as anyone else.

I think they should be called “Redskin holes.”

you need to see a dermatologist stat
As a grey person, I am offended.
A photon is an elementary particle, the quantum of light and all other forms of electromagnetic radiation, and the force carrier for the electromagnetic force, even when static via virtual photons. The effects of this force are easily observable at both the microscopic and macroscopic level, because the photon has zero rest mass; this allows long distance interactions. Like all elementary particles, photons are currently best explained by quantum mechanics and exhibit waveparticle duality, exhibiting properties of both waves and particles. For example, a single photon may be refracted by a lens or exhibit wave interference with itself, but also act as a particle giving a definite result when its position is measured.
The key element in the above paragraph is bolded. Having no rest mass, photons are unaffected by the black/grey hole's gravity. This is a VERY simplified explanation but all I'm up to at the moment.
