The owners of a Christian bakery who refused to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple are facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines after they were found guilty of violating the couples civil rights.
The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries said they found substantial evidence that Sweet Cakes by Melissa discriminated against the lesbian couple and violated the Oregon Equality Act of 2007, a law that protects the rights of the LGBT community.
Last year, the bakerys owners refused to make a wedding cake for Rachel Cryer and Laurel Bowman, of Portland, citing their Christian beliefs. The couple then filed a complaint with the state.
Aaron Klein told me there will be no reconciliation and there will be no rehabilitation. The investigation concludes that the bakery is not a religious institution under the law and that the business policy of refusing to make same-sex wedding cakes represents unlawful discrimination based on sexual orientation, said Charlie Burr, a spokesman for the Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Gays (lesbians, in particular) are all over the bakery industry - just look at the Food Network or an episode of The Barefoot Contessa or Chopped. A conservative could go into one of these bakeries (try NYC!) and request some anti-gay cake message on their red velvet. But conservatives are not good at organizing and are usually at work, so it never gets done.
I am in MA. I would do it if I could find a confirmed Liberal bakery. But I’m not prepared to spend a lot of dough going from business to business to weed one out.
And yes....pun intended.
I went to their website a couple of times over the past year, and emailed them and asked if they took orders that they could mail out. I never received a response and assumed that they did not (and were too busy to respond). I will try again.
I should have done it...today is my husband’s birthday. ..but I don’t know political leanings of bakeries...heck don’t know any bakeries here
It’s not a surprise that you now “have a right” to buy a product from a private vendor, even when they don’t want to provide it... It’s not that different from forcing private physicians to perform involuntary services under MaobamaCare.
It’s time to Refresh the Tree!!
The Nine. Yes.
They ARE the Nazgul. Led by The Witch King....John Roberts.
Just google a few in your state. Libs always announce they’re libs - they’re so morally superior to us that they don’t care who knows their awful political views. I’m sure along with the cupcake descriptions are screeds against conservatives!
On the other hand, why waste your time, lol!?
Liberals. They happened. Urged on by Communists who infiltrated us decades ago.
Good one!
2nd Amendment cake request won’t work because that is not a protected class. Demand a cake with scripture that says something about homosexual behavior being wrong. Religion is a protected class under the law.
Great, and what conservative organization is taking up collections for this embattled couple.
crickets.

the ubiquitous We Refuse the right of service to anyone signs are still on sale.
I have to wonder if the bakery had had one of these signs posted if they could have fended off this psychotic attack?
Are you Kidding?
PROGRESSIVE INSURENCE??
