The fifty-year-old James Bond franchise is one of the most durable movie properties in existence, having reinvented itself with a new lead actor and new creative direction for each generation since Sean Connery originated the role in 1962′s Dr. No. Current franchise star Daniel Craigs first outing, in 2006′s origin-story/reboot Casino Royale, was a critical and commercial success and for the first time in Bond history was followed by a direct sequel, Quantum of Solace, which was commercially successful but seen as a disappointment by many fans and critics (but not us).

“Its Eve, Eve Moneypenny
Best line in Skyfall”
Really? That ruined it for me. It’s almost like they tried to make it a bit of a ‘prequel’ to the early Connery days of Bond. The Aston Martin, M as a man, due to the demise of Dame Judy, except Bond is a nearly worn out geezer of an agent unable to pass his physical and then, to top it off, a politically correct token black who will be Moneypenny? Please...and he did elude to the villain that it would not have been his first time with a man. “Oh, the things I do for England...”
Bond is no more.
Bring back Blofeld.
What are you talking about, James Bond never dies, and that would be horrible.
He’s not more than one fictional “person”!
Ha! Yeah. I made the recommendation to one FReeper and then slapped my head “D’oh” when I saw the very next FReeper missed that movie as well. I was going to post something like “see my post ...” But then I crossed my fingers and hoped a sharp eyed FReeper wouldn’t scroll through that thread. I should know that we don’t miss much and stand properly admonished. I like Statham too and hope the give him a good script and not just a Transporter type flick. There was a Scandanavian mob movie “Pusher” which was also very good (Kim Bodnia (sp?) is the Danish Ray Winstone). The follow ups were not so good.
“One of my favorite films, “Lion in Winter,” features a very young Timothy Dalton as well as a very young Anthony Hopkins...”
Yes, as pansies. I’m just saying. . .
Absolutely. Thanks for posting. :)
I’ve heard rumors that the next villan will indeed be Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
But...how evil is SPECTRE compared with Al Qaeda?
Agreed.
Fleming, as we know, was in His Majesty’s service. I suspect Craig’s version of Bond, is as you say, closer to Fleming’s experience.
Difficult to watch Quantum of Solace - it was cut so fast it was hard to keep up with who was doing what to whom....
I remember reading that Fleming was having violent tendencies and his shrink suggested he take up writing to get those tendencies out of his system. The Bond in the original books was a real bastard and Craig fits the bill. Trouble is, as usual, the cruddy screenwriting.
A modern day SPECTRE could be allied with Al Qaeda.
Thanks!

Yes, but they injected that homosexual lie into the movie and ruined it.
I wish Javier Bardem wasn’t killed off. I thought he was worthy of being in the next film as Jaws
