Is Seahawks coach Pete Carroll a 9/11 truther? That all depends: Does badgering a former four-star general about whether 9/11 was real make one a truther?
Here's what happened, according to a couple sources: Late last spring, retired general Peter Chiarelli, who had just finished his term as the Army's vice chief of staff, visited Carroll at the Seattle Seahawks headquarters. Chiarelli was expecting a pleasant meeting. After all, the pair had what important businesspeople tend to call synergies: Chiarelliwho grew up in Seattleis a big Seahawks fan. His post-military work concerns traumatic brain injury research, a cause of some significance to the NFL. And both have plenty of experience leading groups of men on grand American stages.
The sit-down between Chiarelli and Carroll started off normally enough. They talked about the team, and then about head trauma. Chiarelli, who commanded the American forces in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom II, talked about the brain injuries he had seen there. But Chiarelli's mention of Iraq sent Carroll in another direction: He wanted to know if the September 11 attacks had been planned or faked by the United States government.
In particular, Carroll wanted to know whether the attack on the Pentagon had really happened. Chiarelliwho was the top-ranking Army official inside the Pentagon when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into its western sideexplained that it had. He said he had lost many colleagues. But Carroll didn't stop there. He ran through the whole 9/11 truther litany.

Is Pete Carroll a 9/11 Truther?
The Deadspin.com link above is the original source for this story. Breitbart and others including CBS have qouted it, as in this CBS New York article. . .
Seattle head coach Pete Carroll hosted a retired four-star general at the Seahawks facility last spring and blitzed him with questions about whether the 9/11 attacks had been planned or faked by the government, according to Deadspin.com.
Decorated general Peter Chiarelli, who had just called it a career, was discussing football and brain injuries with Carroll before the conversation took a turn, Deadspin reported.
Every 9/11 conspiracy theory you can think of, Pete asked about, former NFL linebacker Riki Ellison told Deadspin.
You have to consider that Pete Carroll has spent a lot of time on a left coast college campus. Some osmosis may be at play here.
Reason number 136 to dislike the Seahawks and Pete Carroll
Yep, add poor officiating in yesterday's fame and a cornerback street thug acting like a douche; I can only say "Go, Broncos!"
Beside cheating his way through USC and leaving right before they got busted. They got punished, he did not.
Pete Carroll is an Obama supporter all the way.
And in a league with 2/3rds black players, that’s no surprise.
and I thought the air was thin in Denver.
And he left that college campus just in time to escape NCAA Sanctions for Reggie Bush’s violations.
Pete Carroll and Richard Sherman are doing what the
San Francisco 49ers could never hope to do......make
the Seahawks the most hated team in the NFL.
GO BRONCOS!
The Broncos were pretty impressive yesterday...think I’ll be rooting for them.
The noun "truther" suggests a person who is out to get the truth about something. Not somebody who is trying to politicize something by turning it into a conspiracy theory. We used to call those people "nutjobs" and "crazies." I'd like to return to that nomenclature.
Ron Paul supporter?
Tru dat!
A few years ago I was at a family Christmas party that had a variety of different people there; some whom I had never met before.
The conversation went to 9-11 and it became obvious the two people I was sitting and talking with were "Truthers" My first reaction was they were putting me on and playing a joke on me but it became obvious that they believed deeply that 9-11 was a Jewish plot, and a US Govt. coverup.
I waited and asked them how the jews could get 19 Muslims in good health and wealth to give up their lives for Israel. They told me they never died, and the Tuesday following the incident all their relatives were give evidence they were still alive.
As far as the controlled demolition of one of the buildings I said a conspiracy like that would involve too many people not to have someone come forward with the truth and also it would require great expertise and attract attention, of people in the building.
. In any event, they persisted in those beliefs. These people are family people with decent jobs and fairly well educated and believe this stuff.
It is very discouraging to sit here an hear it first hand.- Tom
These shorthand terms do get popular. But for the record. . . Crazy nutjob 9/11 conspiracists.
I’d be nervous if I had to bet my life on whether or not anyone connected with our government, with many winks and nods, knew about 9/11 prior to it happening. Please read that comment CAREFULLY before flaming.
Hey, Pete, what’s your deal?
He has always been a class A jerk
Blame that idiots that started it... The call themselves truthers
And if it were true ( which it is not) I would be nervous too. The men in white jackets would be near by
It’s bad enough the Hawks are from a hot be of liberalism, throw in the ranting dred locked thug and now truther Pete Carrol.........rooting for Peyton Manning a class act!
