TORONTO Media outlets are reporting Canadian pop star Justin Bieber could be deported from the U.S. if convicted of felony vandalism in connection with an alleged egg attack on a neighbours house but are they getting the facts scrambled?
Bieber could be sent packing to Canada if convicted of felony after vicious egg attack on neighbours house, declared the UKs Daily Mail.
Justin Biebers Egg-Throwing Police Probe Dilemma: Possible Felony Conviction Could See Pop Star Deported Back to Canada!, screamed RadarOnline.
Justin Bieber bust could mean jail time, deportation if convicted, Fox News reported.
Not so fast.
First, the 19-year-old Ontario-born singer hasnt been charged in connection with the alleged egg attack that caused a reported $20,000 in damage.
Although police egg-secuted a search warrant on Biebers Calabasas mansion on Tuesday, L.A. County Sheriffs Department Lt. David Thompson said the pop star was not arrested nor exonerated.
Secondly, while its true the penalty for felony vandalism defined in California as vandalism causing more than $400 damage is up to three years in prison, it is not likely cops will be carton him off to jail.
It is more likely Bieber, as a first-time offender, would simply be ordered to pay restitution and put on probation. In other words, a judge would omelette him go.
So what if, worst-case scenario, Bieber is charged, convicted and sentenced to time behind bars?
It turns out he could be forced back to his chilly homeland, Fox News reported. (Whoa! Its not always chilly in Canada.)
Its true that Bieber whos in the U.S. on a work visa could be deported if convicted of a crime of moral turpitude within five years of admission to the U.S. if the government finds the crime involved an element of intentional or reckless infliction of harm to persons or property.
Deportations are a civil matter, though, and Bieber would be able to fight it. The government is unlikely to bother trying to send a world-famous pop star packing.
Besides, a Bieber deportation would evidently divide a nation:
Good point; I think a stay in 23/7 isolation and then forcible deportation would in fact be a lot better.
If I worked as hard as the father did, then saw someone egging a plaster finish worth tens of thousands and then saw that my kid was getting targeted, I would be turning the face of a Marine red with embarrassment.
Trust me. I have. I have a teen-aged daughter who controls my car radio, just as I controlled my mom's car radio back in the days of Beatlemania.
(It's true what they say about karma.)
Not me. Saying M’Fer in front of a child is stooping to the level of the one doing wrong.
No way I’m comprising my principles to get down in the gutter.
Welcome to FR, BTW.
Yes a teen pop star who is in the country legally will get deported because he threw eggs but not 9 gabillion foreign invaders from Mexico who could be anything from serial killers to rapists...They get amnesty.
Spits on fans...speeds in residential areas....uses hookers...throws eggs. What a charmer.
Can he be ordered to stop singing instead.
Thank you.
I just imagine the frustration of the father and it is a form of assault. His kid was in that house and with the entourage that surrounds Justin, it could be a danger that a member of the entourage could pull something against the kid.
He is way out of control. He’s notorious in his neighborhood for causing trouble and I sincerely hope he gets jail time. It won’t enhance his persona and his career is already on the downswing.
Ample reason for the Queen's Dominions to repeal the Murder Act.
Why is it I have never heard him sing? I love music and listen to it all the time. If you are listening to him enough to annoy you the problem is not Bieber.
He must think he’s john lennon.
Jay Leno always needs a Canadian to make fun of in his monologue. A while back it was the mayor of Toronto. Now it's Justin Bieber. Of course Leno only has a few weeks left before his job ends.
I heard him once, I’ll never get those 15 second back.
Vicious egg attack? C'mon now, that's funny.
