Oh. I missed your observation at the top.
Yes, and I'm not the least surprised.

RIP Professor. I always liked his character, he was one of the few useful people on the island. It is interesting that the actors kept in touch after all these years.

He was also in at least one episode of the Twilight Zone. Anyone remember which?I remember seeing him in some western as a gunslinger, was that an episode of TZ?

The all time mystery will always be...did The Professor and Mary Ann “get busy”?

I think that was the Twilight Zone episode where he plays a scientist who invents a time machine and brings a condemned gunslinger (Albert Salmi) from the old west who was about to be hung into the future.

The Prof. figured the longer they were stuck on the island the better chance he had of nailin’ the dog meat out of both Mary Ann and Ginger and then when that old goat Thurston croaked he was gonna move on Lovey and her dough, fix the boat, and THEN split! Damn smart man!

There was a great episode of Newhart where Channel 8 was running a Gilligans Island Marathon, and the local townsfolk had gathered at Dick Loudon's inn to watch it.
Some crisis came up where he had to ask all the guests to leave. He was shuttling a long line of people out the door. Finally when he came to the last one, he turned around and it was Russell Johnson.
"Hey, I want to see the end of that!"
To which Newhart's character replies "They don't get off the island.....trust me!"
RIP, Professor.

Yes, the professor could make a nuclear reactor out of a coconut. But look at who is on the island with him. Mr. & Mrs. Howell have each other. I strongly suspect the Skipper and Gilligan share more than a grass hut. That leaves the professor the choice between Ginger and Mary Ann every night. The professor is a smart guy; he’s not fixing the boat.

My friend, that is hilarious!! Excellent!!!
Mary Ann had the sweet, innocent, yet incredibly sexy “I’ll-do-ya-in-the-hayloft-when-Ma-and-Pa-Ain’t-Lookin’” thing down pat...
Ginger, yeah... she had the whole glam thing going on, but... always looking for the bigger wallet, the brighter light... who can her where and what she wants...
BOTH gorgeous...
BUT...
if you’re talking REAL hottie, ya GOTTA go with Lovey Howell... Gigolo Hpttie!!! Man, John F’in Kerry would have SNAPPED that tail up in a heartbeat!!! Then, instead of him being “The Ketchup Gigolo” he’d be “The Coconut Gigolo”!!!!
Just sayin’...

When I was young, the questions was Mary Ann or Ginger.
Now that I’m an old fart, I have to say...
That Mrs. Howell doesn’t look too bad there herself, now does she?
