While abandoning sick pets is utterly reprehensible, it should be mentioned that sometimes sick animals will creep away on their own to die. For all you know, some family was frantically searching for their dying longtime friend so she could be comfortable in her last hours.
How is she now?
poor doggie
Thank you for caring for man’s best friend. God knows your soul.
To those who would harm man’s best friend, God knows your soul, too.
You were very kind to take her in. I’m sorry she didn’t survive.
At least you loved her the last hours of her life!! That means so much.
You did the right thing.
Sorry it didn’t turn out better.
I had a cat that was gravely ill with cancer. She’d hide from me and try to get outside constantly. I learned that this is common with many sick animals. I loved her and cared for her to the end. Had she managed to get outside, she certainly would not have been comfortable.
I’m imagining that if you had found her, if she ran away from me to be alone, you would have cared for her, I am sure.
I’m a little bothered that you would call me names without knowing the whole story.
You did well, with the dog, did a good thing.
How do you know this dog wasn’t lost and got struck by a moving vehicle? Any broken bones? You can’t always tell when an animals has been hit by a car, and they can pass away from organ damage and/or internal bleeding.
That is so sad. :-( I’m glad you gave her comfort in her final hours.
I believe you’ll have someone waiting at the Rainbow Bridge when you depart this life, FRiend.
As for whoever abandoned it....there is no word I know that can convey my utter disgust for them.
What type of person does this?
Liberals.
They promote the killing of babies without blinking an eye. Why would they give a care about a dog?
Thank you for giving that poor animal a few hours of love and care.
You certainly did the right thing. Bless you!
We had a cat I grew up with that ran away. Years later on a January day, he came back! He looked old and worn, but I knew George and he knew me. Though he slept a lot, it was bit like old times for about a week. One day he meowed to be let out, walked off into the cold, and I never saw him again.
I still miss that old cat!
Sad. God bless you for providing aid, comfort, and compassion to an innocent creature in its final hours. I have saved a few myself and have failed to save a few as well. We do what we can.
Don’t know the temp situation at your local, but often if you warm a dog too fast they just pass on. I have done it, so I know.
We just rescued a 1 1/2 year old German Sheppard/Aussie Sheppard mix.
She had been kept in a cage in a back yard at the base of a hill and when it rained a torrent of water would sweep through her kennel. The owner was told to rectify the situation but did not so Animal Control took her and the county court took away ownership. We got her about a week after the court ruling.
She was skinny and had one broken canine tooth and an infected tooth. We had the dental work done and she is getting good food and has gained about 10 pounds since the end of October when she came into our family. She is a kind and gentle dog and is starved for affection, which we give to her constantly.
We firmly believe that rescue dogs know they are getting a good family and show their love and gratitude. We could never part with our wonderful new addition to our “pack.”
God bless you.
God Bless you, GreyHoundSailor.
