Happy National Science Fiction Day! January 2nd is the day selected for this wonderful holiday because it was Isaac Asimov's birthday. It's a day to celebrate, appreciate, and even read some of the many science fiction offerings at your local library, bookstore, website, or your own bookshelf.

There's some pretty good amateur science fiction bing written over at FanFiction.net.

While there, check some Transformers stories written by FictionFan1024. (that's me!).

Best of his novels, IMO.

Fully adult without heading off too far into his fascination with “free love,” incest and homosexuality, which eventually became entirely too creepy.

As I remember, I cried when Mike died. In my defense, I first read it not long after it was written, and I wasn’t 10 years old yet. :)

Star Trek: Phase 2 (all volunteer, non-profit, fan fiction)

episode name: "Kitumba"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLJLSXgXDPj8E94sN1aHjbvo9iMCTbzWjQ&v=419hNYe2OaY

Remember the actors are all volunteers. They do have excellent animation (space ships scenes, etc), costumes are top notch, props and sets are perfect matches for the original series.

The Last Centurion

Interesting. I've read a lot of Ringo's stuff, but hadn't seen this. Thanks!

Weird. It doesn’t seem that Baen is selling ebooks of The Last Centurion any more. I’ll have to email Baen and see what’s up with that.

There’s always Amazon.

Or I found it at Baen. (I was checking because sometimes they move books to the Free Library, which you ought to check out if you haven’t already!)

For those who weren’t aware, Baen has quite a few books in its free SF library.

Weird. It doesn’t seem that Baen is selling ebooks of The Last Centurion any more.

It is the march of Amazon, can't you hear the drum? The monthly bundles can only be bought in advance and the rest of the listings are basically linking to Amazon EXCEPT for the author-authorized Free Library. Caught me by surprise when I wasn't paying sufficient attention. Can't say I really lost anything but it took this to realize that any purchase MUST be d/l'ed ASAP because otherwise one risks author or publisher withdrawing a title and it is GONE!

Even weirder, after I poked around on the BaenEbook site for a while longer, I eventually located a working link to both it, and another book that I stumbled upon that I’d not previously seen.

BTW, if you’ve not read it the 1st two books from the 1632 series is available at sherman’s link above. Baen is my favorite publisher, because they do a good job of providing value to regular readers (the CDs included in some of their hardbacks are bloody awesome.)
