Jesse Jackson Sr. has jumped into the controversy surrounding comments by Phil Robertson, star of A&Es backwoods reality TV show, Duck Dynasty.
In an announcement sent out Tuesday, Jackson Sr. compared Robertsons recent comments about African-Americans, gay people and women to comments made by the driver of Rosa Parks bus.
"At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law, he said in the release. Robertson's statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was white privilege.
Jacksons human rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, has demanded meetings with A&E and with Cracker Barrel regarding the two companies treatment of Robertson, who stars in the show as the head of a Louisiana family that makes duck calls.
Jacksons group, along with LGBT group GLAAD and the National Organization for Women, urged A&E to keep Robertson on an indefinite hiatus from the show, which the network started following Robertsons comments criticizing homosexuality in an interview with GQ magazine.
Cracker Barrel removed Duck Dynasty items from its shelves and then put them back Sunday after customers protested, according to a Cracker Barrel news release.

Please, Jesse, don’t tell feminists, homos and radical blacks not to eat at Cracker Barrel.
Duck Hunters 1, Dick Hunters 0
Apparently, A&E isn’t bothering to return Jesse’s phone calls.
If his phone don’t ring, he’ll know it’s A&E.
Don't hold your breath Jesse, don't hold your breath. Your mau-mauing days are over.
Well, I’ve read that Messy Jesse Jackson issued his broadside, giving A&E 72 hours to respond to him. Nobody seems to have noticed his statement. And I’m sure that he understands that numbers of African American ministers oppose his principles on homosexuality. This man is such a horrible beast.
Who still listens to this racial extortionist?
Is anyone else getting tired of hearing this White Privilege garbage?
Is part of white privilege working hard to support blacks on welfare and food stamps and getting denied promotions and jobs because those jobs and promotions are set asides to match the black quotas for affirmative action?
Is White Privilege having fear to walk the streets where blacks are present?
Is part of white privilege having to listen to CS’er like Jackson and Sharpton as they race bait their way to fame and fortune?
Lighten up Jesse. The 60s are over. America is tired of your old hippie sh*t.
musta been 7c business hours, and due to the Holidays should put it about 10 days behind Robertsons return to A&E.
Not much leverage left.
I would however, love to see Rev. JJ be forced to sit down in a room with the Robertson family and learn a bit about the Bible and Tolerance.
whenever I see Jesse Jackson I have about the same thought : ‘ Will someone please flush the turd’
“CRACKER” Barrel: the offensive name must be changed.
The whole concept of "white privilege" is just an attempt to rationalize minority dysfunction
7c?
*sigh*
Damn these Glasses! Keyboards fault. Bush did it.
Hey JJ, you’re irrelevant and a has been.
It’s been my position for years that James Earl Ray shot the wrong guy.
Jesse SHUT UP and GO VISIT YOUR SON IN FEDERAL PRISON!
HIS SIN WAS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF BLACK PRIVILEDGE!!
Jackson, 48, a South Side Democrat, served in Congress nearly 17 years before he quit last November amid a federal corruption probe. In August he was sentenced to 30 months in prison for looting his campaign fund of $750,000.
Jackson Jr. assigned to minimum security section of prison
There are people, Jessee Jackson being one and Bill Maher being another, that reduce the IQ to any who listen to them, and are only taken seriously by those whose IQs have been fully reduced.
