One of my favorite Christmas specials. A funny spoof of the Dickens holiday classic.

Do you remember him on the Jack Benny Program?

Only saw it a few times...I was a little young. I always considered Mel to be one of the great talents the likes of which we’ll never see again. He was far better than Rich Little. Calling him “The man of 1000 voices” was an understatement.

I didn't know until just now that he was also the voice of Barney Rubble.
Yes, those were sure the good old days. Cartoons today really suck. I feel sorry for the kids.

You can find clips of Mel Blanc on the Jack Benny Program on YouTube. He was one of the regulars.

Didn’t know he also worked for Lantz. He did Roger Rabbit at Disney, so that’s pretty much all the animation studios of the 60’s. Lantz, Warner, H-B, Disney. The man got around. And that was just the cartoons after Benny.

I had a friend years ago who could do a perfect Porky Pig. In fact, when he got nervous he would sometimes slip into the character a bit and stuttered like him. One time a cop pulled us over and asked him for his license and reg and he did just that. It was funny as hell. I think even the cop laughed.

Cool pic. Blanc was one of the golden cartoon era greats. It’s unimaginable to think it could’ve existed without him.
To: ReformationFan
Especially when compared to the ridiculously awful, gay friendly, “politically correct” garbage cartoons of today. Even the artistry is terrible. No imagine whatsoever. Not funny at all.

Thanks for that! Just looking at Mel Blanc and the characters he voiced for makes me laugh.

You’re welcome. Really sad what has happened to our pop culture over the decades, isn’t it. Friggin liberals and their “politically correct” BS are largely to blame.

I don’t even try to look at the current ones. WB/Merrie Melodies/Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera, and classic Disney(back when Walt was alive) did ‘em right.
