In the fallout over Wednesdays suspension of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson by A&E for anti-gay and racist remarks, GLAAD is experiencing record levels of backlash.
In the five-and-a-half years Ive worked at GLAAD, Ive never received so many violently angry phone calls and social media posts attacking GLAAD for us speaking out against these comments, the media watchdog organizations vice president of communications Rich Ferraro told TheWrap.
He said those reactions range from those who simply believe as Robertson believes to those who feel that GLAAD and A&Es actions limit the reality stars free speech.

I dont think this is about the first amendment, Ferraro said. I feel its more about the America we live in today. That is one where Americans, gay and straight, are able to speak out when people in the public eye make anti-gay and racist remarks.
Robertsons supporters have started petitions, called for boycotts and include Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Currently, more than 70,000 people have signed the online petition asking A&E to drop the suspension.

ABSOLUT
I only remember them for the map that gave half the country to Mexico.
I am amazed by the comments on this article. I thought it would be full of offended homosexual activists, but it’s overwhelmingly pro-free speech. Even the homosexuals are pissed off at this attempted media-inflamed lynching of Mr. Robertson.
YES — I want to know what the “racism” was!
Racist remarks? Guess I missed those.
“I consider GLAAD’s campaigns to end the Boy Scout of America’s ban on gay scouts, raise national visibility of the violence and inequality facing transgender people, and battling for marriage equality to be among my ‘greatest triumphs,’” Ferraro said. “But if a teacher, coach, local radio show host, or parent realizes that ant-LGBT slurs are outdated and unacceptable because of this Baldwin issue, I guess we’ll call it a win. Alec Baldwin’s team has not been open to turning this incident into an opportunity for public education and that’s unfortunate.”

Something tells me the homos are about to experience what its like not being able to have it both ways.
Any chance he’s the spawn of former Mondale running mate Geraldine?
If you watched Kelly Files last night, they had one of these whiny little pukes acting like an immature child crying because some bad guy didn’t suck up to the gay agenda. This little twerp was an embarrassment to all decent people.
Americans are sick and tired of having to be silenced by whiny little perverts that somehow think we all have to shut up and support their sick perversion.
Americans have always tolerated unwillingly this sickness, they just don’t want to embrace this illness and elevate to some kind of special status..
glaad didn’t “speak out”
it set out to ruin a man who quoted the Bible
The star of a red-neck centered reality show with a steadfast Christian cast offers an opinion straight out of Paul’s writings, shared by the vast majority of the show’s viewers and a plurality if not majority of Americans.
He didn’t advocate what Iran and Muslim extremists do actually executing homosexuals. So comparing this guy’s statement that most guys won’t ever be “gay” and that it is against the Bible isn’t “hate” or violent.
As to the slippery slope argument, we legalized sodomy, now we have judges making “gay marriage” a right and those who don’t want to bake their wedding cakes face fines. And we are seeing a slippery slope, where there are now lawsuits to make polygamy legal. A polygamist reality show family just won a case in Utah along those lines.
Sounds like they don't like free speech ... thus they are liars.
While the perpetually aggrieved whine and sigh, two more states (in two days) are being treated to gay marriage, and a major defense contractor has declared the Boy Scouts of America a hate group. The country is done. Done.
The fact that his critics have to lie about what he said tells me all I need to know about them.

“for the word sin to be expunged from usable vocabulary.”
What is sin? There are only choices. And different opinions. /sarc
Well GLAAD should be glad to know that Mr. Robertson is most likely praying for their souls. He’d probably break bread with them for the chance to share the Gospel with all of them. Sharing the truth in love isn’t sparing the truth with false words to appease the lost. It’s speaking plainly when souls are on the line.
