The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. There is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
I did not find the four envelopes of pepper seeds. I seldom lose/misplace anything, but I did this time. I have looked under everything in this room and on the floor under my chair and other things, and they are not here, but they have to be here.
I gave up yesterday, and ordered them again. This time I added one that is a selection of hot peppers together to chop and make hot sauce. I hope all of them get here next week as they need to go under the grow lamp right now. I already have the paper cups filled with seed helper as I thought I could pick up the envelopes and have the seed in there, then they weren’t anywhere to be found.
I’ll shortly be starting tomato seed that grow to maturity in very early spring - I plan to stagger the various seeds according to their maturity date so there will be tomatoes until late fall. If I manage to do that, it will be success but since I’m a newbie, I may screw up as I did with tomatoes I grew from seed and planted for fall. I didn’t plant enough of the stalk when I put them in the big container. Won’t make that mistake again.
I hope you all are having a great Christmas day.
I had to pot the lemon grass today. I had started them in water, and they grew roots and started putting up leaves, so into dirt they went.
This silly tobacco plant just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I'll repot it next week, I guess.

You are sooooooo organized, pepper seeds notwithstanding! I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Joyous and Prosperous New Year!
I wish all the gardeners and their families a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I am the person who can find lost “things”. I see detail really well. These four seed packets are somewhere as “everything has to be somewhere”. I am still looking for those packets but ordered more ‘cause I must get those seeds under the grow lamp. It's okay to have more seeds than one needs for this year, but not okay to not have any.
My husband was like a baby in that if you show the baby something then put something on top of it, the baby thinks it is gone. When my husband lost something, I found it because he could not think below something that might be covering it. He was very intelligent but couldn't find things he lost. Of course, if he said he couldn't find “x”, he knew I would find it so maybe he just didn't want to look for it and knew I would.

There is a brass magazine holder by my chair and I have taken every single magazine out of there and shook them, too. Most of them are Rifleman Magazines. I have two seed catalogs that were not in that holder and the seed packets are not in them.
I have had boxes delivered to me and flowers delivered this past Monday, and thought I could have had the packets in my hand when someone was at the door and sat them down somewhere to deal with person at the door. I have looked at places where I could have sat them down from my chair to the door. No packets.

Merry Christmas, y’all.

Merry Christmas Marcella. Sure love reading your posts. YOu are so fortunate to live in an area that is warm (er). We are freezing our patooties off here in Tennessee. Dang I could really do without cold and dark. Bleh. Was so happy that winter solstice passed and daylight is getting longer from here on out.
“If I’m looking for missing pants, neighborhood roofs are a likely spot to start. :)”
Well good heavens! I’m sure there is a story there. Do tell!
I'm a single guy, so stuff sometimes happens around here. ;)

Johnny!! And here we thought you were a nice quiet gardener!

A blessed Christmas to you & yours as well Gypsy!
murrie, Johnnie has never liked pants since he was a child. I think he is kin to cave men who weren't much on clothes, either. It's worse in the summer of course except for right now. Around New Year's eve, the pants are likely to go.
All the plants are alive, the many strawberries are doing fine. I won't have freezing weather at night until maybe next Monday but every time they forecast 32 degrees or high 20s on there for a night time low, it doesn't get that cold.
My posts on this thread are sometimes a bit off of gardening, but that is life. LIFE IS WHAT WE DO WHEN WE ARE WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. We get to know each other better when we know what our friends are going through. We are here, we are alive, and we are doing things. I hope we all have a good year in every part of our lives - our health, our children, our prayer time, and every plant in our garden.
