I love the Baker Creek catalog! I received mine too but I put in an order before I got the catalog - gotta start those tomato seeds indoors very soon!
My order arrived today - tomatoes: Black Krim, Black Cherry, Roma, a yellow cherry variety; a white eggplant; lemon cuke and I'm going to try growing some ground cherries.
I'm still in the process of weeding out which heirloom tomatoes grow best in our climate and which ones the family likes so I'm growing different varieties.

After about a week of freezing and near freezing weather, we are up to the 40s at night again. It's supposed to be in the 70s during the daytime in a couple of weeks!
I harvested some of the lettuce in my lettuce bowl today for lunch. Here it is last week before its "haircut" lettuce_bowl_fall2013 photo LettuceBowl640x437_zps7436ecb7.jpg

Thanks for the pictures. We had snow during the night and all morning: White Out conditions and grey skies. Temps were hanging in around freezing and a couple of degrees above.

We are supposed to get enough warming for some major melting before the next storm hits in about 6 days.

YUM!! I want to just grab some of that lettuce and immerse my face in it...with lots of vinaigrette and blueberries and carrots and parsley and nuts and ....!!! It’s gorgeous!

I tried growing lettuce for the first time last summer, and was able to root a grocery store romaine stump, and it was happy for a while, but I think the heat got to it. It just wilted away. My seed sprouts never really took off. My spinach was only a strange looking stem with some little straggly leaves on it. So I admire your lettuce-growing mastery!

Isn’t that catalog wonderful!? I have not made any choices yet, but am looking forward to really studying it.

What btw, is a “ground cherry?” Just curious, is that actually a cherry or a type of tomato? (I guess that answer would be evident if I studied the catalog....) ;-D
