I have some police stuff when they were a 4 man band and Sting went by his real name.

Gordon Sumner.

That Marillion didn't enjoy more success is some mystery to me. Superb vocals; simple, haunting melodies, and thoughtful lyrically. Go figger. But then again, you know what they say about the masses.

Them and XTC. Andy was a flippin' lyrical genius, right up there with the Brian Wilsons and Lennon/McCartneys. "Travels in Nihilon" sounded like something Radiohead would have done 15 years later, and then he could do absolutely stunningly beautiful tunes like "Ladybird" and "Chalkhills and Children" or "Knights in Shining Karma" And IMHO the most perfect pop song ever, "Mayor of Simpleton."

Big XTC fan . Saw them live at a relatively small club on Long Island on their first US tour . Dave Gregory had recently joined . Partridge is a genius and man does he possess not only the gift of gab but also wit ; he is a bit of a dick , though , and like most rock musicians lib as hell . My friend played drums on NONSUCH which to my ears their crowning achievement : they’d reached their apex.

Dave Mattacks, of Fairport Convention fame?

Speaking of drums, Terry Chambers was criminally underrated, and then he dropped of the face of the Earth (ok, he went to Australia).

DM , yes .

As much as I dug Terry , I don’t think he would have cut it on albums like Oranges and Lemons , Skylarking , Nonsuch , etc...

I have , on CDR , 2 hour interviews that both Terry and Andy did on seperate occasions via telephone around 9 years ago with an Australian who was a huge fan who apparently played them on an Aussie radio show . Exc. If you want copies let me know .

She and 90s rocker Matthew Sweet have made 3 ‘Under The Covers’ albums featuring their favorite tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s respectively. Good stuff.

Well, now you've gone and done it...I went to her facebook page and watched the "Cinnamon Girl" video...it was just spectacular.

I swear, she's prettier now than when she was much younger...darn her...LOL!

Yea, me too. I even like a lot more country, big band, classical and even opera. But when you’re talking rap, I don’t see myself ever coming around to that.

Chrissie Hynde doesn’t look to happy about the fact that her surviving claim to fame is being Rush’s theme song...”

But I bet she still cashes the royalty checks.

“Two of the Ramones are dead, or is it 3? Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee...”

It’s three. And strangely enough, the only surviving Ramones (except for C.J., who replaced Dee Dee) are their drummers.

“No more Running Up That Hill for Kate. LOL”

Maybe if she ran up that hill a few times she’d slim down a bit...

She had a pretty big hit with “Black Velvet” in the late ‘80s.

“No Def Leppard?”

The article features New Wave, not New Wave of British Heavy Metal (which also includes Iron Maiden and Motorhead, btw).
