Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the beginning of a great crime. Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox.
You dont celebrate the holiday I thought? a fan asked Cher.
I DONT, Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.
When asked why she believed this by another fan, Cher explained: Stealing Land, from a ppl, Who believed, Owning Land Was LIke Owning SKY!
We gave them Blankets laced w/ Smallpox, Cher concluded.

To be fair, the Aztecs had a very sophisticated society by Stone Age standards.
Aside from, y'know, the whole human sacrifice thing.
Well, American Indians got a mixed bag, but it wasn’t all bad.
The tribes are not warring any more due to there being at least some kind of overarching justice system. Do they consider this a plus? I would, if I was an American Indian.
They’re also getting perks that the paleface doesn’t.
Now they do tend to be lazy today and not working (unless it is at their casinos) ... with the loss of dignity this entails ... but ultimately that’s their own fault. They could both take the Uncle Sam dough AND work if they wanted to. They chose not to, although all they would have to give up would be their pity parties. It’s not like the Indian treaties depend on political whim that they have to keep pumping; they are there in black and white.
Great great great album. Had it on vinyl in 68 and today cd and mp3.
More Bean Mum.
She already is. You don’t need to tell her to do so for her to be drowning in hell.
She may well be since Kardashian is also an Armenian name, like Sarkasian.
I agree, he (she) is an impersonater-look at the money changing hands.
Cher?
Did she moult yet this year?
1. Who is we? 2. I didn’t know all American Indians were the same.
I had a friend visit Alaska....What do you do for work?? He asked...fish....fish and hunt...
My friend said there was a pile of government checks on the table. Apparently the guy cashes them at his leisure when he needs a new jeep or a snowmobile. They lived in a shack....very slovenly.
I don’t feel sorry for Chasity or whoever she/he/it thinks she/he/it is. If I had to celebrate Thanksgiving with the kid of hers I’d be losing weight as just the sight of Chas makes me sick and the TV goes to another channel.
On Dancing With The Stars I missed that season as seeing a girl dance with a girl was sickening.
“I agree, he (she) is an impersonater-look at the money changing hands.”
Or a lawyer. LOL (sorry couldn’t resist)
The 1st genocide of the 20th century was the Armenian Genocide. The Islamic Ottoman government systematically exterminated its minority Armenian (who were predominately Christians) subjects from their historic homeland in the territory constituting the present-day Republic of Turkey. It took place during and after WWI (1915-1923) and was implemented in 2 phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and forced labor, and the deportation of women, children, the elderly and infirm on death marches to the Syrian Desert. The total number of people killed as a result has been estimated at between 1 and 1.5 million. The Assyrians, the Greeks and other minority groups were similarly targeted for extermination by the Ottoman government, and their treatment is considered by many historians to be part of the same genocidal policy. To this day, Turkey denies the genocide ever happened.
She should have used Odorono.
Well if they wanted to live in humble shacks that’s their business. Being grateful to God for what you have is part of wisdom. I hear very little about American Indian spiritual ideas today... other than that I know some have adopted Christian faith, and that others affirm the closest thing their perception could come to an omnipresent, omnipotent God, their “Great Spirit,” in what might be a genuine private revelation for all I know.
It’s funky that Cher wants to throw a monkey wrench into thanksgiving by highlighting ingratitude. It’s like the devil, which is a devil in anybody’s world, is grabbing for the glory.
And at least fishing and hunting is SOME kind of work. Ask any redneck... they know it as well as the redskins do.
Shut up and sing.
On second thought, just shut up.
