A clever inventor will thus come up with USB powered rubber hands and, er, other devices to meet public needs. :)

Seriously, these are the first steps. Government has remained blessedly befuddled by the Internet and other computer technologies since the early 90's, allowing the industry to grow in an almost unlimited fashion. Now, it wants its cut. Look for regulation to break out everywhere, culminating in it becoming illegal for individuals to write and deploy code without government licensing and product registration.

Almost no websites are usable by the blind. My new monitor lacks a braille capability and it is state of the art.

I suppose I could adapt a mouse to work my Chrome browser with a hook but I’m not sure. Does Hawking surf the web?

I bet it’s already being sold in Japan somewhere.

Probably called the iWish or something like that.

Well, in all fairness, ObamaCare.gov is an equal opportunity failure.

Section 508 to be imposed on all websites? Wow. I guess that's one way to shut down the internet.

Jim Rob, I am versatile with Section 508 disability requirements, esp. with the experienced gleaned in my current job. I offer my services, free, if you are targeted.

I suggest we act proactively.

Section 508 requirements do not require braille. They require spoken text ability, so -- for example -- all pictures must have the Alt tag summarizing the picture contents.

That allows the built-in voice-reader to be able to 'render' the website to the blind.

I foresee an amazing financial opportunity for myself here.

If Stephen Hawking can use a computer, so can everyone else. How do websites not comply with ADA? Whats next, wheelchairs with bluetooth and WiFi?

This was the entire purpose of the ADA. Why does the federal government set local zoning laws? That’s not part of its constitutional duties.

Well, unless the NSA wants to monitor your internet use or your phone calls.

They "found" some "substantial effect" on interstate commerce.

We should have shot Wickard, and sent Filburn to Congress.

At some point, it has to be recognized that there are some things the disabled are not able to do. That’s why people help each other.

If I recall properly, there was a case in the 1990s where a strip joint (that had a shower on stage) had to make it wheelchair accessible and put in a handrail in case a handicapable stripper were to apply for the job.

Shouldn’t they be suing Sebelius over the O”care website...

Don't give them idea's, they would essentially be suing "us", the taxpayer and would gladly take more of our money.

Could be a problem. How could those without fingers or hands be accommodated? No ability to use mouse or keyboard. In this world it’s not possible to accommodate every single person. These people are idiots.

Chaos and disruption are the keys to power.

If you’re asking, “How do they expect this to work?”, you’re missing the point.
