Located just 50 miles north of New York City, sits Petra, a heart-shaped island that now belongs to Brad Pitt, after Angelina reportedly shelled out £12.2million to buy it for his 50th birthday.
Pitt is apparently an architect fanatic, so when Jolie discovered that the island's only two homes were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, she was sold. Pitt once said,When I discovered Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright, it changed my life.
A source revealed that as soon as Angelina heard the island was on the market she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed. The house is perfect for romantic getaways or as a family retreat. Its very private. And Angelina knows the fact the island is in the shape of a heart will mean so much to him."
The 11-acre island has a helicopter pad and boasts vast expanses of stone, cement, mahogany and skylights. The first cottage was put up in 1950, nine years before Wrights death. The main house was constructed in 2008 from a Wright plan and is reportedly one of his most spectacular designs.

I think its pretty ugly. lol
The heart has a tumor there on the left ventricle.
I’m thinking kidney shaped.
She could have bought him a small terminal at a rural airport for that kind of cash
for some reason I was reading the wiki pages about islands around New York City last week...
I didn’t retain much
Looks like a Bond villian compound
There’s a University just east of where I am with a bunch of Franks buildings.
Kinda ugly
$19,700.00 US.
What the hell, you only live once and you can’t take it with you.
Wonder if they pay NY taxes on it though, bet that could get expensive.
LOLOLOL! So it takes leaking skylights to be properly “Wrightian”.
I got the music CD for ‘Walking Dead.’ Man, I’ll bet Pitt’s bitter!
I wonder how much the Obamacare tax is on that transaction?
This island is in the middle of a small lake in Putnam County, just north of NY City.
So its not a tropical paradise, and when the lake is frozen for 3-4 months of the year, anyone could just walk out to it.
Actually the construction crew put in far more rebar/Ibeams than he called for because they felt it wasn’t sufficient, and they have had to repair it since shortly after it was completed many times... now whether those cracks were due to the fault of the original plans, or the fact the construction crew didn’t follow them exactly I don’t know.
Is that a pre-nup on her arm?
These big modern mansions always look like dentist offices to me.
I wonder even more if she muttered under her breath about them when she saw the number.
