Angelina buys Brad Heart Shaped Island for his 50th

Located just 50 miles north of New York City, sits Petra, a heart-shaped island that now belongs to Brad Pitt, after Angelina reportedly shelled out £12.2million to buy it for his 50th birthday.

Pitt is apparently an architect fanatic, so when Jolie discovered that the island's only two homes were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, she was sold. Pitt once said,“When I discovered Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright, it changed my life.”

A source revealed that “as soon as Angelina heard the island was on the market she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed. The house is perfect for romantic getaways or as a family retreat. It’s very private. And Angelina knows the fact the island is in the shape of a heart will mean so much to him."

The 11-acre island has a helicopter pad and boasts vast expanses of stone, cement, mahogany and skylights. The first cottage was put up in 1950, nine years before Wright’s death. The main house was constructed in 2008 from a Wright plan and is reportedly one of his most spectacular designs.

Maybe it’s different on the ground, but I’d think a little open pasture would be nice.

Choppering in and out of there will be great for the environment. Blame yourselves when the sea-level rise washes your houses away, Brangelina.

While Frank Lloyd Wright designed some great structures, his engineering suffered over the esthetics. I think they’ve had to fix, ‘falling water’s’ foundation several times.

Mrs WBill asked for a pair of fancy rainboots for her B-Day.

Glad she didn't know that this island was up for bid.

"changed your life?"

I suppose that before, he didn't know who they were, and after, he did. So, he had a little more knowledge, and perhaps his life was slightly more enriched as a result.

Or, do you suppose that he was taking dramatic license?

;-)

Yet another example of the hypocrisy of the left.

While they don’t mind seeing us all taxed to the point where the middle class is indistinguishable from the poor, this couple sees nothing wrong with buying an island for around $20M for a birthday present.

How many people would that $20M feed Angelina?

From the article....Just 47 miles from New York City and surrounded by 200-year-old beach trees

Wonder what a beach tree is? A nice palm perhaps?

While we’re on the subject, I wouldn’t live in a Frank Lloyd Wright house if Angelina paid me.

Yes, and the roof of the skywalk to his “great room” office space at the Johnson Wax factory leaks like a seive. It’s made of hollow, bent, glass tubing. Furthermore, the 3 legged desks he designed for the office workers all had to be re-designed because they were constantly tipping over and dumping the secretaries on the floor.

The “great room” is not used any more because everybody wanted private offices.
