Fla., A Florida woman with a phone number made famous by pop band Tommy Tutone said she obtained the number on purpose and receives hundreds of calls each week.
Carrie Routt of Lynn Haven said she dialed 867-5309, the phone number belonging to the eponymous girl in the Tommy Tutone song "Jenny," for fun 12 years ago and she discovered the number was available, WMBB-TV, Panama City, Fla., reported Tuesday.
"Just like everybody else we wanted to know what would happen if you called that number," Routt said.
She said she called the phone company and concocted a story to get a free change of digits.
"I told them I was getting prank calls on the old phone so I could transfer the old number without paying a fee. Which was kind of ironic because I was getting the number that would give you the most prank calls," she said.
Routt said she now receives 50 or more prank calls each day.
"Oh I love it when she goes in the other room and the phone goes off," said Kyle Routt, her husband of six years.
Routt said she does not want to give up the number, but she might consider selling -- a Philadelphia medical student successfully auctioned off the digits for $5,500 on eBay in 2009.
"I've thought about that. It's sort of part of me and I just can't imagine not having the number but for the right price tag maybe everything is for sale," Routt said.

I once cailed the number on the bumper sticker about, “Don’t like my driving? Call 1-800- EAT SH!T”
It was busy.
Before the demise of the shuttle program, a lot of the phone numbers at Kennedy Space Center had an 867(and still do, just no body there to answer them) prefix. Yup, one of the shops had the 5309 last 4 digits and eventually had the number changed due to all the smart-ass engineers calling and asking for Jenny. “For a good time call........” Great guitar work in there too. Not in the shop, in the song. Except my shop. Good guitar work there. LOL!!
BR5-49
A One hit number....couldn´t make a number 2
Yeah, but it was one of the best One Hit Wonder songs.
So they’re getting all these calls from people living within the bounds of that area code? Surely, people are not guessing both the area code AND the number, are they? Get lives, people...get lives!
My old band did that song. I sang it. It was always one of the most popular songs. We’d slip it in if things seemed to be slowing down too much.
Would you?
We had a mom/pop restaurant in our town called BR-549.

Living the dream.
If you need some dirty deeds done, call:
362-4360
I hear he’s dirt cheap too.
Or call 0118 999 881 99 9119 725..........3.
LOL! We actually had a request once for a wedding reception to do it so, we learned and did it. Funny thing was the bride was NOT named Jenny. Go figure. Nobody ever let us in on it if it was a joke or former girlfriend of the groom or something.
It’s a song I still enjoy doing, unlike Brown Eyed Girl.
