Third or fourth period French class, sophomore year.
Shocking!
Worse shock yet to come when Ruby shot Oswald live on tv.
Not a happy Thanksgiving that year.

I was 8 years old. I remember walking into the living room and mom was kneeling on the floor in front of the tv, crying.

Probably lying in a bassinet, asleep or maybe crying for a bottle...so I guess I didn’t hear about it until much, much later.

I remember thinking, “Oh, no! Now this bunch of gangster Irish punks, thugs, rapists, murderers and buck-toothed, stupid, cow-like women will be on the front page of magazines for the rest of my life!”

Playing hookey from (Catholic) school.
I had claimed my brain hurt, or some similar excuse.

We were home because it was parent teacher conference day down in Whittier. I was ten and remember my older sister crying. Watched the coverage that weekend on our black and white tv.

In Dallas, got out of Lake Highlands High School to go down and see the motorcade, but instead was washing my car for a date that evening when KLIF radio had a bulletin saying "Three shots fired in Kennedy Motorcade."
"What a dumb ass thing to do," I said to myself.
Just then my Grandmother opened the garage door and said, "The President's been shot!"

I was in the third grade as the principal walked in to whisper something in the teacher's ear. The teacher gasped and sat down as the principal told us children in just a couple of sentences what had happened.
At home, it was non-stop TV coverage for many days.

Honestly...it was my earliest memory. I was a little more than 1, and I remember seeing the TV through the bars of my playpen in the living room of our house. It showed a long line of black cars. and a lot of sad-looking people. That’s all I remember.

Sixth grade band class. Announcement over the intercom. Entire class stood in respect with head bowed. Girls cried. That’s what I remember.

In French class. University School, Shaker Heights, Ohio. Excused for the day, but I lived in the dorm, so we just watched the tv for the rest of the day.

1st grade, at a Catholic school. Our priest came and whispered something to our teacher, and we were dismissed early.

Was in 8th grade and when I got home after 3 it was on TV. Was shocked that a Prez could be assassinated in “modern” times.

Senior year, high school. The public address system just started playing the radio news and we thought somebody made a mistake and laughed about it until we heard that they were talking about the death of president Kennedy.
We cancelled all of our programs for a few weeks, including our Homecoming Dance.
