No. 7 Auburn survives No. 25 Georgia, 43-38

Ricardo Louis scored on a deflected 73-yard pass on fourth and 18 with 25 seconds left to lift No. 7 Auburn to a stunning 43-38 victory over No. 25 Georgia on Saturday night.

The Tigers (10-1, 6-1 Southeastern Conference) had blown a 27-7 lead but pulled out one more huge play to continue the biggest turnaround in major college football. From 3-9 last year, they can win the SEC West with a victory in two weeks against No. 1 Alabama.

Auburn's Nick Marshall heaved the ball downfield with two defenders around Louis. It bounced off safety Josh Harvey-Clemons and right into Louis's hands.

Aaron Murray, who had engineered the comeback with three fourth-quarter touchdowns, could only stare helplessly from the bench.

He led Georgia (6-4, 4-3) all the way to Auburn's 20 but his final two passes fell incomplete as time ran out.

War Eagle! (And this coming from a BAMA fan). This will make for a more exciting Iron Bowl. Good luck two weeks from now, Plainsmen.

Alabama just started on ESPN. Florida (my alma mater) has mant starter injuries including 1st and 2nd string quarterbacks, but they are now ahead of #10 South Carolina by 14-6 in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

That was the hardest sports event I ever watched since Christian Laettner beat my Wildcats in the last second.

I knew Auburn would fall apart if Georgia started passing. Holy Crap that game gave me a headache.

Next stop. Iron Bowl Baby!!! I wonder if they will go down in the polls Sunday? Who cares?!!! They got a bowl bid now right? Could be the BCS!

I happened to see this, as I tuned in for the last part of Georgia's comeback, including of course the apparent non-touchdown to take the lead, which was not overturned. ( It was very very close, either way. )

In the Louis touchdown, both defenders were to one side of him. One of them just about had the interception when the other defender reached across him and tipped it away, and into Louis' hands. You could see this in the replays.

Also note Georgia came very close to scoring yet another touchdown in the closing seconds, when they had several tries from around the 20 yard line. So, an amazing finish, all in all.

What are defensive backs taught on such a play late in the game and on 4th down? Knock it down!!!

A 4 loss Georgia team that struggled with North Texas State is certainly not going to help Auburn in the polls.

I don't know. When CBS had the split screen it was clear to me his knee was down on my 75" HD screen. I wonder if the refs had that technology available to them?

But Auburn won and Georgia is/was ranked. And the SEC is the SEC. I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped in the polls though but they should at least stay in the top 10.
