The NFL lost another great player too soon with the death of Todd Christensen on Wednesday.
Christensen died during morning surgery at a hospital in Utah. He was 57 years old. According to The Salt Lake Tribune he had battled liver disease and other serious illnesses in recent years. The former tight end was a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion. He was also a television sports analyst.
Christensen was a standout running back at BYU and a second-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1978. He is best known for his time with the Oakland Raiders. Christensen started to emerge in 1982 with Oakland, when he had 42 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns in a strike-shortened season. In 1983 Christensen caught 92 passes for 1,247 yards and 12 touchdowns, and the Raiders won the Super Bowl at the end of that season.

Bummer to hear about Christensen. A very good football player and very articulate football analyst. As recent as a few years ago he was calling college football games on ESPN.
RIP. Prayers for his family
I just read this on ESPN. I always liked watching him call the college ball games. A shame.
Way too young.
May he rest in peace.
One of The GREATS!GOD Bless him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is your name really Ralf Grosskreuz?
RIP.
Todd was a great football player and an even better person. RIP Todd.
I forget who gave it to him but his nickname was Toddzilla. Always liked that. RIP Todd. Gone way to early.
I knew him (as an acquaintance) in RL.
Great guy with a wonderful sense of humor.
So damn young!
RIP Todd.
John Madden also called Todd a “Manster” - half man, half monster, because of his workout and testing grades were off of the charts.
That was also Randy White’s nickname with Dallas.
