The November 5th issue of Runner's World carries a column by athlete Nick Symmonds calling for a handgun ban for everyone except police and military personnel.
The column also calls for a ban on "assault rifles," while kindly proposing that regular citizens should be allowed to keep a shotgun with which to hunt birds and a "[rifle]...for big game animals."

Is “Runner’s World” one of Leo J. Hindery, Jr.’s publications? Hindery is an avowed lefty crony capitalist, who is also an Obama finacial bundler (Obama had considered him for Secretary of Commerce). Hindery and his holdings, including InterMedia Partners, buys magazines and has them tow the lefty line. InterMedia has bought up several gun publications and networks and is either going to “turn” them (i.e., make them take a pro gun-control slant), or bury them.
His No to H8 says it all.
Runner’s World is mainly read by libs and poofters.
I think there should be a running biathlon, where you run with an AR and shoot at targets at various distances on a timed course. You can get a higher score for running and shooting the target at the same time.
Along with Skeet Surfing.

No. We will be civil and have the entrants shoot at paper targets at various distances.
There are thousands of dedicated runners in my area. We are within spitting distance of Quantico Marine corps Base and a bedroom community for the DC area. The US Military is dominant around here and a large percentage of those folks are runners and also very conservative.

Oooppppsss. To late to die young from a perforated ulcer. LOL! Lucky for me these kind of a$$holes don’t raise the acidity in my gut. Just awareness of how many there are out there keeps me motivated to work against them.
Back when I was a semi-serious runner I subscribed, and I don’t recall ever seeing anything political in the magazine. I just went to their site online and looked for the article and responses, but did not find it.
I wanted to give them a piece of my mind, which would have gone like this:
We need handguns to protect ourselves against day-to-day threats. We need military grade weapons to protect ourselves against out of control government, since governments have killed over 250 million of their own people in the past century. What makes you believe that our homegrown socialists/communists/Marxists will behave any better than their foreign predecessors?
A new 1776 is likely, and we choose to be prepared.
