Raleigh, N.C. (CBS CHARLOTTE) The North Carolina Department of Transportation sent out a traffic alert, warning people of female drivers, rain and Obamacare.
The North Carolina DOT sends out routine alerts to drivers about accidents and road work using email and Twitter messages.
On Wednesday, the NCDOT sent out an alert which reads: A High severity incident has been Added for I-40 Eastbound in Wake County in Raleigh, before going on to list the incident as Vehicle Accident: Women Drivers, Rain, Obama Care.
The message then advised drivers: Stay Home.
WTKR NewsChannel 3 reached out to the NCDOT officials who said the erroneous message occurred due to a botched test of the system. According to the transportation officials, the systems were being analyzed at the time of the incident and messages were only supposed to be sent internally. The IT contractor reportedly did not follow protocol, and the alerts were sent to the public mistakenly.
The individual violated procedures by failing to turn off the external feed while testing and for the inappropriate test message content. The contractor was let go immediately for this action, DOT officials said in a statement.
LOL bump
I love those.
The Truth shall never go unpunished in North Carolina.
Botched? How so?
If this isn’t a marketing opportunity what is? My ads would show me by a highway sign that had it Photoshopped in. It would say “Yeah I’m that guy.”
This poor guy needs to be interviewed on TV and radio. A small screw-up on an internal test and he gets fired? And we have people who have ruined the country on purpose and get bonuses and are even still in office. Someone needs to hire this guy who thinks on his feet and has a good sense of humor!
Without knowing who did it, there is no way of verifying the person was fired. It was a contractor...and when I hear that I doubt anyone was really fired or contract actually lost. One thing I am sure of, when a system sends a message out “test” is usually included. Can’t think of any good examples to the contrary, and not for that kind of thing. I think someone in the Gov thought it was funny and sent it out, but was not in the loop of those that are really responsible for it.
Story was not very investigative.
Funny though.

I used to love getting a rise out of groups of women at work, moaning about traffic problems & accidents, by inserting myself and saying, "we could reduce traffic problems and cut accidents by half, if we just didn't let women drive."
If I was really feeling spunky, I'd phrase it as, "there'd be half as many bad drivers on the road, if we didn't let women drive."
In either case, few ever heard what I was actually saying.
I love living dangerously.
Yeah well a few months ago some hackers took over the Florida DOT freeway signs and had them say that Zombies had taken over and invaded Gainsville and to stay out of the city.
Too much fun.
Trufe in advertising PING!
Fire Sebelius.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a pair of those sunglasses?
I have no problem seeing through liars like Clinton and Obama.
I meant for the “news” casters and driving/walking down the street.
I’m gettin’ old but not blind/brain dead yet
odd how I remember 30 years ago but not 2-3 days ago...
My tv died in the 2008 election campaign season and I never bought the “be seeing you, webcam installed” replacement.
The new tvs hurt my eyes and the pravda media beats the drum 24-7 (even if you aren’t watching “those annoying shows”, the ads from them run during the other programming, “news” promos for the other broadcasts (tune in at 10 and see), etc.
None of it worth a damn frankly.
In the 1990s, I saw Ray Bradbury give a lecture and he said that there was no reason to watch the local or national news broadcasts daily. Warehouse fires, cantina shootings, random car accidents, mudslides. The news of what happened at city council each week is rarely covered, same with Congress. 5 minutes of “headline news” 1 or 2 slightly longer pieces, then a couple of “human interest” or paid pharma news items, sports, weather, and something unusual to talk about at the water cooler.
He said that there were some more in depth programs but not on the 30 minute shows. My tv died in the 2008 election campaign season and I never bought the
At one time, we were able to laugh at something like this instead of firing the contractor for his mistake.
Government leftists have no souls and no sense of humor.
