Raleigh, N.C. (CBS CHARLOTTE) The North Carolina Department of Transportation sent out a traffic alert, warning people of female drivers, rain and Obamacare.
The North Carolina DOT sends out routine alerts to drivers about accidents and road work using email and Twitter messages.
On Wednesday, the NCDOT sent out an alert which reads: A High severity incident has been Added for I-40 Eastbound in Wake County in Raleigh, before going on to list the incident as Vehicle Accident: Women Drivers, Rain, Obama Care.
The message then advised drivers: Stay Home.
WTKR NewsChannel 3 reached out to the NCDOT officials who said the erroneous message occurred due to a botched test of the system. According to the transportation officials, the systems were being analyzed at the time of the incident and messages were only supposed to be sent internally. The IT contractor reportedly did not follow protocol, and the alerts were sent to the public mistakenly.
The individual violated procedures by failing to turn off the external feed while testing and for the inappropriate test message content. The contractor was let go immediately for this action, DOT officials said in a statement.

Botched? Not!
So where will Goober Pyle find work now?
Stone the crows! FINALLY. An honest news report!
not sure about rain but the other two pose a significant problem.
With some basic precautions one can drive quite safely in the rain.
Awesome!
Aww - that is a shame. No harm done - just providing a few chuckles to the public and he gets canned. A lot of thin-skinned folks out there.
I know it’s probably the first time in history people were laughing WITH A government agency and not AT it ..and the dude gets canned.
is there a problem? :)
Do you not remember the Rodeo clown? We must not insult El Douche or his precious socialist programs.
Note to Self:
When you QA your work, make damn good and sure YOU ARE USING A DUMMY DATABASE!!!
How do I know?
I’ve mistaken a Live Feed for a Test Feed.
Shhh happens! And then things get ugly.
Statists have no sense of humor;actually they have no sense.
