BALTIMORE (WJZ)Its a horrific story of mans best friend becoming a womans worst nightmare. A Northeast Baltimore woman was attacked and killed by her own dog.
Rochelle Ritchie reports the pit bull had attacked before but was back in the owners custody.
Advocates say the attack should not have happened. The woman had a huge gash on her face from a previous attack from her dog.

There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t see a report about some person being mauled by a pit bull. And I’ve been seeing those stories for years. I’ve also had my own run-ins with the breed - none of them pleasant.
State legislatures really need to set up some legal guidelines for owning this breed of dog. They ought to be treated the same way as other dangerous, exotic animals.
You must be Chet99!
I think a pitbull should be given to each member of congress
as a thank you gift for the bang up job they are doing.
Idiot!!! Thank God there were no children around.
Nope, but I do vaguely recall that poster. Wasn't he posting about dogs all the time? I forget.
Pitbull is not man’s best friend at all.
I had one dog in all my life turn on me.
A chow. He bit the hell out of my left hand for no reason.
He was put down the next day.
There are too many nice dogs in this world that need homes to give one to a violent breed.
I’m starting to think that pit bulls are reincarnated muslims. Natural born killers.
Good one! Chomp Crunch Akbar!!
If I have an old, half blind and grumpy dog turn on me I want it to be a 3 lb. Chihuahua. Pit Bulls can be cute as puppies but even the “nice ones” get old then it’s time to worry.
Poor you! I have run ins with pit Bulls almost every day at the dog park and I to have been viciously licked and loved by them! however I have had many nasty run ins with little terriers and poodle which tend to be overly aggressive and cause fights. You must be very happy to be so ignorantly opinionated, but hey that’s why America is so great you can have your opinion and I can have mine and we can both go on in life happy with our selves. Oh by the way in case you want to educate yourself http://www.cesarsway.com/dogbehavior/basics/How-Did-Pit-Bulls-Get-a-Bad-Rap
Unfreakinbelievable. I hope Jen doesn't have any children in her house. Ever.
Woman, 25, mauled to death by her boyfriend's two pit bulls when they turned on her as she fed them
Must just be a coincidence!
You're defending the indefensible. Reports of pit bull maulings are constantly running in the press, and they have been for many, many years.
The overwhelming numbers of these reports indicate that this breed of dog is genetically predisposed to violent behavior. It's simply a fact.
It's also a fact that pit bull terriers were originally bred to be hunter-killers. Look it up. Apparently, that instinct has never died out in them, and is now expressed by thousands upon thousands of violent, unprovoked attacks by these animals every year.
Deny reality if you like. That's your business. Most rational people see that there needs to be some sort of safety protocols put in place to protect the public from this breed of exotic animal.
It is not the breed but the breeders that are the problem
The wonderful pet dogs that we all love are all vicious animals, wolves, in reality.
Centuries of breeding has taken the wild animal and turned it in to a loving companion.
Unethical breeders have reversed that process with the some pit bulls to breed aggressiveness back in to the breed for pit fighting.
As with any pet you intend to purchase always perform a background check on the reputation of the breeder. Any reputable breeder will take back a dog that does not work out with your family. If you take a puppy home and the dog turn mean the breeder should take the dog back with no more that a simple explanation from you as to the behavior problem. (If it nothing more than the puppy pees on the rug dont expect an all right then bring him back)
There are plenty of breeders out there breeding pit bulls that are not overly aggressive and have plenty of history of producing fine family pets.
But with any breed an occasional bad pup will get through to an owner that has problems. My sister-in-law got a Great Pyrenees pup that was simply psychotic. The dog would be playful and cheerful one moment and be growling and snapping the next. The family tried for weeks to rehabilitate the dog but finally had to tearfully take the dog back to the breeder who put the dog down.
I agree. Look up the history of the pit bull terrier some time. They were initially bred to be hunter-killers. They still are.
No It’s no coincidence, evil people have been destroying many of the breed by selectively breeding animals for aggression, you know kind of like what the liberals have been doing with the inner city youths for decades. But go ahead be hysterical and call for the destruction of an entire breed with a much longer history of being loving family dogs because of what a few, yes few badly damaged by humans do. Oh by the way should we eliminate all police because for the last few years there have been more and more stories about police killing or beating people out of hand? Just asking because that seems to be your logic.
Really? I've owned 9 dogs and none have been vicious.
My dog ever bit me he’d get one very important lesson about who the boss is.
He wouldn’t do it twice.
