If the Redskins change their name, shouldn't the Celtics change their name to something like Chowderheads.

I don’t know if Pat Fitzgerald wants to leave the comfort zone of Chicago, but he could be a intriguing possibility for a bigger program.

The OED gives both. Keltic is what every ethnographer I’ve ever heard says. I’m going with Keltic. You are welcome to be an outlier

The Houston Astros were originally the Colt .45s. Changed to Astros when they moved into the Astrodome in ‘65.

I’m in no way Celtic, but I am nonetheless deeply offended. I demand reparations.

Boston cant even pronounce the name right. Celtic is pronounced Keltic not Seltic. In Boston it's "Seltic" -- as in "Sell Tickets".

Souldnt a name like Barack be considered an insult to the “religion of peace”?

He was charged with sexual harassment. Yet media made no big deal of it, nothing compared to the way they screamed at Imus and Rush just over use of a word. Judging from the few times I have watched Letterman, he is extremely liberal - constantly attacking Republicans but Obama gets a pass no matter what. He is also boring. His bitterness might be due to having a miserable home life.

The Volunteers is “racist”. Tennesseans volunteered in the tens of thousands to go kill Mexicans and hence received the name.

I find it odd that the people who are most ticked off about this type of team nickname are also the same people who call for a ‘celebration’ of minority cultures. To me, the Redskins, Chiefs, Braves, Illini, etc are nothing more than a modern day celebration of Native American culture. The Redskins logo exudes strength and pride. They may have a dopy foam-rubber mascot (honestly, I don’t know if they do or don’t), but so does everyone else, including the Vikings, Fighting Irish, Celtics, and every other team out there. If some people were truly tolerant (eg. not organizing or joining a boycott for every perceived slight) they might find out that life in the greatest country on Earth isn’t so bad after all.

The New Orleans Saints insult all non-Christian religions. They insult Buddah, the three Hindu dieties and let’s not forget HoMoHamhead.
