Another item: Polk Greens. We have poke greens that grown up to 6 foot tall around one of our walnut trees. Hubby and his family love poke salad and stir fried poke with bacon grease and onions.

Duh, polk greens. Silly me, I had forgotten that is what was grown there when I was little. Thanks for that whop up side the head. I’ll dedicate that whole area to various greens.
Some of you all never been down South too much
I’m gonna tell you a little story

Down there, we have a plant that grows out in the woods and the fields
And it looks some like a turnip green
Everybody calls it Polk salad, now, that’s Polk salad
Used to know a girl that lived down there and
She’d go out in the evenings and pick a mess of it
Carry it home and cook it for supper
‘Cause that’s about all they had to eat
But they did all right
I thought polk greens weren’t tasty unless they were young. You use the 6 foot tall plants?
