It sounds like the same squash. This one is called an Italian squash so maybe it started there.

If you eat squash and want some of these seeds in the spring, you are welcome to them. I will order more in the not distant future, when they issue so-called 2014 seed.

Let me continue searching Philippine squash for a few. It is a slow go, because in the Philippines, squash is both a vegetable and a game.

Do you remember where you bought the squish seed?

Sounds like a good squash to grow. Is it an heirloom, so that you can save seeds and get the same sort of squash. I’ll be looking forward to hearing how it tastes.

I put up a case of picled squash this year - zukes and summer squash. Haven’t opened one yet to try it-letting it steep to get all the flavors time to be absorbed.

I finally got my garlic I ordered into the ground yesterday. Now, I’ll see what I have left in the old batch, and fill in the rest of the bed.

Y'all must be tougher than over here in Weenie County.

Got up this AM, put on a pair of shorts and crocs, and went to work; mowing, feeding, weeding. I did put on a sweatshirt last night when me-n-the Mrs were sitting outside though. (durn 'skeeters')
One thing the Army taught me was to ignore the chill.

One of those Vets wanted to strip off his clothes in public. The first time he came to see me that’s what he did in my office.

And.....????? :)

Right now, I've got all the seed envelopes around me

I did that today, too. Then I walked by my calendar, and saw the words: "Jury Duty" 8:45 am. It was 8:31 am... Did I ever throw some clothes on quick, and rush out the door....

After getting there to find it was cancelled a few minutes earlier, I ewnt back home, and picked out things to plant now under my growlight as I moved the rest of the things under my growlight outdoors.

Now I have, oriental greens (a mustard/cabbage cross) snow peas, baby bok choi, and swiss chard under the growlight. I finally remembered to get 5 oz cups for the seeds,

I got to thinking further about our discussion regarding the light. I am thinking about what you said about hanging the light.

Since heat rises, I think I’d have to hang it kinda close to the ground. Also, plants need the dark to grow, so I’d probably need to cover the light up with an old pan.

Weather here was to get into the 30s, but no frost predicted. However, last night on the 10 pm news they announced a frost warning.

So I went out to the patio garden and covered it up. Had to use a flashlight since the only light on that patio is pretty dim.

Not sure whether we got frost or not, but it was about 35 degrees this morning. I’ll have to check on the plants later and see how they are doing.

Time to finish bringing in all the rest of the produce-that’s for sure.

Thanks! I thought about the heat rises thing too, and was going to put a long cord to get the hanging light to the ground, but I was wondering about the light being on all the time, and you answered that for me. Thanks again. I’m going to put an old pan over the spotlight. That’s a great idea. The bushes still look so pretty, but they aren’t going to last for long. I hate to say goodbye to them, that’s for sure, but my son says, “well, when they die, WE can sit out there.” -lol-

There was a small bathroom right next to my office and he said he had to use the bathroom and went in there and stepped back into my office with everything off except a small bit of so called shorts - a thong.

I told him that wasn’t acceptable dress and he had two choices - he could put his clothes back on and come back in my office or he could put his clothes back on and leave. He dressed and came back in and we proceeded to talk about his need to take his clothes off.

LOL. I really want to extend the season for my littl patch too. If weather goes as usual we’ll have some almost summer days and nights in a week or two.

Course, we might also have one of those snows just before Thanksgiving. It’s a gamble this time of the year.

Apparently, a tobacco seed got into my home-made potting soil and I've got a itsy-bitsy tobacco plant growing in my thyme seedlings.

“As long as the fiddly bits are covered....”

I wasn’t pleased he did that but showed no reaction and if he had been totally nude, I likely would have started laughing out loud. I guarantee you he would have headed for that bathroom if I had started laughing.

LOL! It sounds as if he were European. That is pretty much status quo for an exam in Germany.

The two free books I won came today. “The Awakening” is about the collapse of the world economy and what our hero does when his friend tells him what is about to happen. It concerns QE3, the fed buying more bonds to try to keep the country going, which doesn't work.

I'll be able to read this book fairly quickly because it's about what is happening now to this country.

The author, Michael Kaye, wrote a note to me inside the book that says, “Marcella, I hope you enjoy reading my first novel! Stay Awake and Be Prepared.” We had a few emails right after I won the book so he knows I am a prepper.

The other free book I received is, “When Life Hurts”, “Finding hope and healing from the pain you carry.”

If the economy tanks, we will all have a life that hurts until we adjust to the new normal.

I keep entering to win more books - new books just mailed to you and all you did was enter to win it. This is like a candy store except the candy is free.
