i wish we had a rules expert on here.
If the offensive team jumps off side with the play clock at :05, they mark off the penalty yards and the play clock resets to :35. If the clock starts to run then, the offensive team could run the clock down.
I think you will say that the rule is that the clock stops on a penalty.
Ok. SO why doesn’t the defense jump off-side to stop the clock? Doesn’t work that way?

They don’t seem to have the 2013 version up on their site.
Section 7 is called “Actions to conserve time”
There is a reason the game suffered with those replacement refs. It may not be rocket science but there are a lot of nuances.
Oh BTW, 4 weeks for Cutler, SIX for Lance Briggs.
I think the backup McCown can hold down the fort okay at QB, it’s wonder what a coach who knows an offense from a hole in his ass can do. But that D-fence is a shambles.
Let’s go Blackhawks! How about them Bulls? Pete, I’m still trying to get you a meeting with Theo about the Cubs job.
Reggie Wayne is going on IR with an ACL injury. Really sucks for him and Indy.
Oww, he was crying last night, I guess he knew it. I was hopeful cause he seemed to be walking okay. Poor guy. That could be the career.
Stay classy Jets fans:

(Not Suck)ler out, Briggs out. Not good. My adopted team is banged up. :(
Leland’s hanging it up for DET; too bad. First LaRussa a couple years back, now Leland. That’s a lot of expertise to lose.
Leslie Frazier is so fired. So many QBs MN has tried this year, all of them have done horrible.
Well, did I call it for ya, Pharm... or not?
8-7 FOR THE WEEK. Worse week in years. Which is exciting.
I pick CAROLINA this THUR
Frazier constituted two “criteria” for hiring in today’s NFL:
1. He was the “hot” coordinator.
2. He’s an AA.
MIN lucked out last year and snuck into the playoffs where they were immediately destroyed. And when Frazier gets canned, the malcontents will use that as an example of racism (He be a playoff coach).
Smoke and mirrors don’t work in the playoffs.
Wow, the NFL is REALLY QB desperate:
A little surprised Tebow hasn’t got a call yet, even to be a 2nd/3rd stringer.
The Rams are reportedly thinking about Tebow too.
The NFL was spoiled for decades by so many college coaches running pro-style offenses that led to fairly smooth transitions. Now the spread is the rage in the college game and while many of those elements work and NFL teams are embracing that system, it has yet to fully mesh.
I guess it shows just how little the NFL thinks of Tebow; they’d rather have Pepe Favre.
