I don’t like it either. I don’t want my emails looking like an instant message box.

I might not mind the changes so bad if the darn thing even worked properly in my Firefox browser. I'm seriously thinking of going back to Thunderbird mail because of this.

Yahoo is taking feedback here, if you don't like it please let them know and maybe they will fix things. I think it is a disaster myself.
