I know the adage goes let him who is without sin, cast the first stone, but some people deserve to be written a ticket to damnation with the greatest sin being utter stupidity. Meet televangelist Rick Joyner (pictured), who recently made headlines for openly praying to God for a military takeover of the U.S. government. While appearing on Prophetic Perspective on Current Events, Joyner claimed that democracy in America has failed and that the nation might not last even to the end of President Barack Obamas term.
Why not?
Well, according to Rev. Crazy Town, America is teetering toward tyranny. You know, that rascally Black in the White House wont let go of power because hes like Hitler or something.
Enter Joyners prayer, which pleads to God to save us or well, those who look like him from dark forces that are at work right now to undermine and destroy the republic. If you let him tell it, our only hope is a military takeover; martial law.
Ive wasted Gods time praying for many a silly thing. Say, that one day Beyoncé and I will sit in a hotel suite, eat Popeyes, and sip wealthy peoples liquor as we discuss her starring in a movie of my creation. I imagine God gives me a side-eye whenever this prayer enters the universe, but thanks to Joyner, I now realize there are far more annoying heathens.
What exactly is going on that is so terrible in Washington that you pray to God for a government takeover? A health care plan that looks like one drafted by Republicans more than a decade ago?
I mean, I could see forming a prayer circle to send Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to the Spike Channel and out of the Senate, but other than that, Im a bit lost.
The initial clip was taken down from YouTube, but things on the Internet never truly go away. So Joyner was forced to address his controversial statements, I did not plan for that program to be aired just as a government shutdown began. Still, he claims, America is now sailing deeper and deeper in to these most-treacherous seas. Also, after his prayers are answered, Not only will our Republic be restored, but even more importantly, America will turn back to the Lord and fulfill our destiny and purpose.
Exploiting indigenous people and African slaves in the name of greed and power? Can Rick Joyner get an amen? No? Okay, lets move on.
Joyner ended the statement by repeating the declaration that caused all of the drama to begin with:
That being said, without a soon and very radical turn back to what we were called to be as a nation, we are going to pass through a time of martial law in America. The crucial issue is who the martial [sic] is going to be. This could be a very difficult time, much darker than we can probably imagine, or it could be a time when peace and stability is restored, and the Republic is restored to its Constitutional moorings. That choice is up to Americans.
As much as Id love to dismiss the likes of Rick Joyner as some kooky, overly religious, fringe element of the Christian right, the reality is there are plenty of people in the Republican Party who share the fears that President Obama wont let go of power. In fact, they are the majority.
From an October 2013 Public Policy Polling report:
One in four Americans say that President Obama is secretly trying to figure out a way to stay in office beyond 2017 including almost half of Republicans (44 percent). And 26 percent of Americans think that Muslims are covertly implementing Sharia Law in American court systems, while 55 percent dont think so and another 19 percent arent sure. Theres a huge partisan breakdown on this one as well 42 percent of Republicans fear Sharia Law making its way into Americas courts while just 12 percent of Democrats agree.
Looks like Ill be praying for the nation too.
It might be a bit of a stretch, but how much of a stretch to ask, are we absolutely sure he will leave office in Jan, 2017?
Yea he is.
According to the author of the article, the above was a restating by the evangelist of the apparently controversial statement.
I haven't heard this on youtube, so those lines above are all I have to go on.
It sounds like he saying that we're eventually going to be living under martial law, and that depending on who's in charge that that could be better or worse.
Going with the hypothetical for a moment, but IF Obama is in charge, you can darn well rest assured that it won't be a pleasant time.
Rick Joyner is a humble, meek, but straightforward teacher and prophetic voice who is not afraid to speak what he believes he is hearing from God.
Amen.
Agreed.
Agreed
Yes sir! Any suggestions as to where I should start, sir?
Does Valerie Jarrett have a food-taster?
Benghazi Barry wouldn’t know how to wipe his a** without a crack to follow.
His parishioners need to get the flock out of there....STAT!
Successful coup d’état generally are prosecuted by a talented and respected colonel , the military position from which a highly political process selects generals during intervals of peace. Otherwise it’s “Ave Imperator!” those “Worthy to command legions”.
Honduras did it very successfully a couple years ago faced with same dilemma we are, huh!!!
-—and this is not a recent development as folks can easily remember or read if too young, the start of this weakening with Harry Truman firing McArthur. It has all been political from that day forward. Does anyone have any confidence in the present head of the joint chiefs, General Dempsey? Had anyone in my day shown up for an event looking as hung over as that suffering fool it would have been off to the alcohol rehab center for his sorry butt!
And this is shocking/horrible/crazy...why?
Can we honestly fault the man for (basically) going on the air to openly plead the last group in his nation with even the possibility to both stop the madness and put down any uprisings from the madman’s legions while there is enough of a nation left to save?
Would not any of US cheer wildly if our daily news were interrupted by a desperate call for volunteer reinforcements to storm the nest of vipers in DC? Would we not have everyone from ROTC cadets to Vietnam vets to fed-up citizens coming at a dead run with a score as long as Bill Clinton’s nose to settle with the federal government?
Ladies and gentlemen! I ask you - do you dare call this man insane???
The coup attempt in Kenya in 1982 was initiated by a Air Force sergeant.
A coup needs leadership but not necessarily generals or admirals. The coup leader would need:
A well-defined statement of the reason for the coup. (see US Declaration of Independence)
Credibility as one seeking the good of the nation and not a position of power. This would include a definite plan to transfer power to an interim civilian authority.
Communication with potential cooperating and subordinate units.
A plan which requires MINIMAL violence to effectively remove current leadership from a position of command. This may be as simple as cutting off their communication,
