I think an amateur politician would have been clobbered by the Democrat attack/smear machine, particularly upstate.
Coach’s heart may be in the right place but ruthless Democrats would have dug up every scintilla of dirt and distorted it beyond recognition with their media friends leading the way. As Herman Cain showed, if you don’t have an immediate answer and counterpoint, the media will rip you to shreds.

The fix was in even then. Mike would have been another “accidental” road kill by the side of the political road. Obama wasn’t the free choice of the people, he was more like a guided missile. People didn’t realize this at that time.
