Guy I worked with (not a ghetto type) decades ago had the first ghetto repair I ever saw:
Trunk lock busted, so he just drilled and bolted on a gate hasp with padlock.

I know a guy that actually wanted to do the heater/fireplace thing in an old econoline van.
Asphyxiation did not bother him, but when I pointed out that he wanted to build it over the gas tank, he finally scrapped the plan LOL

You can see at least half of these in your typical Wal-Mart parking lot.

Not unique. Did this in 1966 using a tennis ball container ...
... and a couple of hose clamps.

Here's my all time favorite. It's a new vehicle produced by AfghaniMotorWerks...

As an international company, AMW is also making a mass transport/camper vehicle for Kenya ("The Obama"...very popular)...

I drove an Opel Kadet about 25 miles without a fuel pump once. Taped a 2-liter bottle of gas to the radio antenna, and ran a length of 1/4" fuel line from that to the carb.
Had to stop twice to disassemble it, use the fuel line to siphon gas out of the tank to refill the bottle, and then put it back together, but it got me home.
