Former Speaker and former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich took to Twitter to blast the Obama administration for its absurd shutdown actions. "DC Tourists frustrated by shutdown Smithsonian should visit Mount Vernon. Ladies of Mount Vernon have NEVER taken govt money. Still open"
Gingrich and wife had paid a visit to Mount Vernon. And he noticed a little something on the bus turnaround.
"The tour bus turnaround at Mount Vernon closed by Park Police. Zero maintenance required."
A response from a lib:
"Zero maintenance. However, if someone gets lost in there, a staff would be required. Are you really that damn obtuse?"
Lost in a turnaround?

Gotta love the moron who makes the excuse that people might get lost and require rescue in what looks a bit like a small parking lot.
You’ll have to forgive him. Liberals tend to operate from the POV of how they might react in a given situation and they project this situation upon others. It’s why they are pro-gun control, because they don’t trust themselves to use a gun in a safe and respectful manner.
The reason why the guy was concerned about people getting lost in what looks to be a rest stop, or bus turn around, is because he was concerned individuals like him would get lost without somebody watching over them.
The classing democrat on a stopped escalator requiring rescue.
Right on the mark post IMO.

Sounds like something that once happened to HIM!
Obviously he get’s lost in his own bathroom.
Who would get lost in a turnaround but a government employee.

I pass by there everyday. The turn around is simply a loop maybe 200 yards long on flat open ground. The Park Service has erected the same barriers at all parking lots, overlooks, and etc. for the entire length of the Mount Vernon Parkway. Most of the overlooks are no more than spaces where you can pull off onto an expanded shoulder to view the river. It is disgusting, and obviously done to annoy the public.
Liberal, getting lost in a circle. Sweet.
“It is disgusting, and obviously done to annoy the public.”
It’s obviously working, but not exactly how they would have hoped.
Probably doesn’t want his queer encounters disrupted by his fellow deviants getting lost.
Obviously he gets lost in his own bathroom.
********
Now you’re being hurtful and insensitive. /sarc
“The 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway remains open to traffic despite a government shutdown of federal agencies. However, facilities and services including all visitor centers, lodging, camping, interpretive services and restrooms along the Blue Ridge Parkway and other national park areas will remain closed during this time”
These people’s deepest fear is that their god will be shown to be irrelevant.
Inquiring minds want to know... how the hell are they paying for the Barry-cades? Thought they were shut down.
You might be on to something there. The Iwo Jima Memorial and one of the Mount Vernon Parkway parking lots are notorious as spots where gays go to meet and conduct their activities, or commit indecent exposure, as they are frequently cited for. I had a thought that maybe the Park Service was closing those places because they did not have the manpower to patrol them during the shutdown. Then, I saw the overlooks and bus turnaround closed too.
Are the roads maintained by the city? If so, How can they barricade access to Mount Vernon is it is not paid for with gov’t money?
What did you expect for a Tea Partying Anarchist? ;)
