I’ve watched exactly zero minutes of this show.

“Proud to have never watched it!”

So glaring, proud, and, overt about all of your other ignorances too...???

1) I think South Dakota may not follow the reason for being pinged.

2) Having watched previews for Breaking Bad over the course of the show's existence, I came to the conclusion early on this was not a show I would choose to watch. Does this make me ignorant? Or, am I allowed to make choices based upon information presented? There are many shows, and movies for that matter, I will not watch purely by who the actors are! Does this mean I'm ignorant? Or, am I not allowed to choose based on my own reasoning, and not by the reasoning of others?

if you ever said to yourself “what the hell do I watch this stupid idiot box for?” then BB was the show to see.

It was probably one of the best that ever was.

you missed the entire point of the show.

I don’t think there is anyone who wants to go into the meth business after seeing this

The main character pays the ultimate price for his bad actions, he loses everything

Tried to watch a few episodes, just couldn’t like it.

But you said in your first post, "Proud to have never watched it!". If you watched it and didn't like it that I can understand. I stopped after the first two episodes too then I heard people talking and went back in season 3.

The writing was stellar with something going on every moment.

I think one point of the show was that Walter White is a terrible role model. He messed up everything.

Now, having said that, I will note that Walt got away with a great many things (for awhile) because he knew he was dying and he was desperate, and he felt no fear. By being fearless, he was able to go and confront people and do things that seemed impossible and crazy.

Our government better hope that not too many people become as fearless as Walter White.

Well, Breaking Bad is only a TV show, but I got a different lesson from it.

If Walter White had lived out his days, his family would have kept his house, the Schwartz’s would likely have helped out, he would have died surrounded by people who loved him, and God would have embraced him upon death.

Instead, crime got his family’s house lost, and while the family will have money, it is blood money, he died alone and hated by his family, and God will certainly cast him out.

I do not consider watching 10 minutes of a couple episodes watching it. Have never watched an episode would have been better to say.

Why you didn’t watch it is the same reason I didn’t. I did watch a few moments of a couple episodes, so I should have said never watched an episode. It was just trash and I couldn’t stand it.

The Sopranos at least showed you that while sociopaths can be charming, they are still in the end destructive sociopaths.

So you seem to be implying you watched and enjoyed The Sopranos. You also provided the reason you believe that show was acceptable, and this one is not.

Tony was ok because he was a sociopath from the start, but WW was not because he became one? You don't have to know about, or watch or like the show being discussed. A walk in the woods sounds like an excellent idea.

Just don't sign in to berate a show you know nothing about because you believe it doesn't match the moral level of The Sopranos. Well, at least if you do not want to be laughed at.

After the first three shows, I found it to be so amoral and pointless that I couldn’t watch anymore.

I can understand that. That was my reaction to Mad Men.

I found the two primary characters in Breaking Bad to be fascinating. The contrast between the Walter White at the beginning of the show and the end was stark. Yet it was done in small bits and pieces; a concession here, a rationalization there. A high school chemistry teacher morphed into the producer of poison for money and a murderer.

Our schools teach self esteem, and Whitney Huston and others laud "The Greatest Love of All"; love of yourself. What a pathetic joke. The problem in precisely the opposite.

Breaking Bad was an exploration of the reality that anyone has the capacity to be evil. Some choose not to give in. The results were played out in the many tragedies that were woven into the show.

I don't offer that as a justification for my watching or recommendation for anyone else to watch. I'm just saying I watched it and that was a big part of what I took from it.

Good classic literature, TV, movies etc... become classic because they show reality. In other words, if you are showing evil, you must realistically show the consequences of it.

Non-realistic media shows evil in a gratuitous fashion...sex without babies or venereal disease...Villains held up as heroes... pushing liberal agendas...etc...

Such a pleasant fellow.

Thank you for your kind words.

Pleasantry and kindness for pleasantry and kindness.

Over these past five seasons BB has been the equivalent of a long modern Shakespearean tragedy. Watch and disagree, or do not, as you prefer.

It is hard to understand why this thread attracts people posting that they are glad/proud/vindicated, whatever, that they didn't watch. I'm glad that their time was spent as they choose - not watching. I'm glad for me that I didn't spend time watching Mad Men after sampling episodes 1-5. Maybe it got better after episode 9. I could not tell you; I didn't watch. I don't read or post on "Mad Men" threads, if they exist, saying or implying that MM is not worth watching, because I don't really know. Neither do you regarding BB, so why are you here?

Perhaps I have misunderstood or concluded incorrectly. I welcome clarification.
