I have loved STAR TREK from the very first year, 1966 or so.
Probably always will. Geez, when I die I will MISS the future STAR TREK shows. Dang.

What's interesting is that bearded Spock's logic "fits in" so easily in the evil universe as it does the good universe.
There is some fan fiction that takes this episode and extrapolates what happens when evil Spock "considers" Kirk's proposition, and acts on it.
Let's just say that it doesn't end well for bearded Spock.
The evil empire prevails.
This is one of my favorite episodes. But it also depresses me.
It's hard to think of Spock doing rotten things, but for "logical" reasons.

Death....Disease....Destruction Horror, That is war is councilman, that is what makes it a thing to be avoided.
You have made it neat and simple, so neat and simple, that you have had no reason to stop it.
And You've had it for 500 Years!!!

The unanswered question in that episode is “What would you do if you had a Tantalus field device?”

That’s a good episode, gotta love General Order 24. I always liked the episodes where Scotty got to command.

The “Mirror, Mirror” episode always makes me ponder analogies to America, in which some strange point in time, the country I knew and loved disappeared in a wink, to be replaced by an ugly, vomitous, alternate-universe America, in which everything from values to morals has been turned totally upside-down.
And to add an even more depressing footnote, I didn’t even get a sexy Barbara Luna out of the deal.

Thats a good episode, gotta love General Order 24. I always liked the episodes where Scotty got to command. It also gave us one of Scotty's best-ever lines (in response to the weasely Ambassador):
"The best diplomat I know is a fully-activated phaser bank."
