Nothing's better as a parent than possessing the power to soothe a sleepless child. For one man armed with a pink ukulele, a little daddy-daughter duet did the trick, and video of the adorable performance has gone viral.

So sorry to hear. My parents gave the four siblings a safe, loving, stable family in which to grow, despite both of them being raised in poor, single parent households during the Great Depression. My father, WWII combat vet & career Army officer, was a gentle man (2 words). My stay-at-home mom was the first sergeant and the engine & heartbeat of the family. I bless their memories b/c I had something too few children have today.

My parents had their own issues and instead of dealing with them they took it out on us. It was what is was and was passed down from generation to generation.
I do get very wistful though when I see such a wonderful parent like the one in the video. If only.....
Glad you had a wonderful experience in your childhood. Cherish it and pass it on to the next generation, especially those wee ones not so fortunate today.

I've been able to pay it forward, and then pay it back. By circumstance & choice, I did not marry. I did, however, become a surrogate dad for two girls from a severely broken home. Twenty years on, they have their own families and children, and also the permanent scars of their parents’ selfishness. And as my mom & dad fell ill, I became the primary family caregiver. The years of their decline & deaths have taken a serious toll, but I now know it was God's plan that my life should unfold as it has. Still in grief and working to recover, but thankful for the trial.
And perhaps why we both are drawn to the video of little Adelaide & her dad. I've learned from my surrogate daughters’ offspring that there is no better feeling than a loving child's arms wrapped tightly and gratefully around your neck.

Ah, missed that - honestly? Saw the video without reading. But I’m sure he is a musician. Has that feel.
I have several friends who would like to be pros, even went to Nashville and whatever - and they really, really have incredible gifts. But very few succeed. The most talented musician I ever met works as a web designer. Another is an EMT.

Daddy is a Physicist — a very musical one. There’s a strong connection between math and music.
When one of my g/daughters was about two or three years old, she was sitting on my lap and we were watching one of her movies. It was a sing along type thing with the words showing on the t.v., both of us were singing, she had memorized the words and I was reading as we went along.
Then a song started with no printed words, she said, “Sing grampa, sing”. I said, “I can’t, I don’t know the words”. She turned around on my lap to face me, held my face in her little hands and sang the whole song to me.
It was so precious, she could have asked old grampa for a pony at that time and got one.
