Nothing to do with ice ages, but I found this beautiful.
Russian Extreme Drive instructors club displays cars driving on ice in a in a close contact dance.

Drivers of front-wheel drive cars can experience a kind of deja-vu if they encounter it in a corner. As soon as they feel the car start to slip they lift their foot off the gas pedal and suddenly they’re looking at where they’ve been.
Looks like winter morning on my driveway turnaround...
YMMV but I prefer the RWD, it's much more exciting to drive.
Lucky for you, I had to do that for free while commuting to and from my job in S.E. Michigan during the winter........
I did that for decades too.
Note that MI used to allow studded tires (at least until I could afford some :-(... )
A delicate touch, it takes.
Most driving takes a 0.3 coefficient of friction which is about that of wet surfaces. At 0.1, one has to be more deliberative and plan farther ahead.
For RWD slides the key seems to be to steer into the skid, backing the throttle off to just neutral and try to follow the rear end back around with the steering wheel as soon as it starts to straighten out. I think screwing up the last part is what sends a lot of people into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
OK, I got the all wheel drive, bias front, rear parking brake maneuver. The last maneuver scene where they are going in a circle and biasing to the rear? Anyone? Anyone?
Don't thank me, thank holiday inn express... :)
Seriously, if you look close, at the beginning of the maneuver scene, you can see the right front go from reverse to forward.
Looks about right.
I should have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express instead of flipping my brand new ‘69 Mustang end over end down the icy canyon road. But that was my first introduction to seat belts.
The 69 Mustang was the best looking car ever!
>>>Talented drivers, to say the least.<<<
You have to learn it to make daily commute in Russia with only about 4 months a year without snow there.
Now we know why they all have dash cams
Triple Axel on the bridge is probably much better than a Triple Lindy off the bridge.
Very nice OP! Thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching the video.
